Cardinals take LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson

With the fifth pick in the NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals selected LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson, bolstering their defense with a player who’s ready to contribute right now.

There was talk that the Cardinals might draft a quarterback, but the decision to go with defense in the first round indicates that Arizona expects to acquire a veteran quarterback, perhaps Marc Bulger.

Peterson is a great talent, and pairing him with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie gives the Cardinals an outstanding pair of cornerbacks.

The only question is whether the Cardinals may some day regret passing on a quarterback.

The clowns on ESPN keep on giving away the pick before Goodell gets to the podium. I don’t want Chris Berman telling me the pick. Can’t they shut up for another minute.

Please tell the networks to stop talking about Blaine Gabbert. It’s getting really annoying.

Best player in the Draft. I’m so happy the Cardinals took him.
