Lions tell players: OTAs start Wednesday

AP

Within hours of the NFL telling teams they could begin to open their facilities to players, the Detroit Lions scheduled their first organized team activities of 2011.

The NFL agency X-A-M Sports, which represents at least one Lions player, spread the word on Twitter that Lions players have been told to report for a team meeting on Monday, and that OTAs will start on Wednesday.

Of course, it’s still possible that those OTAs will have to be canceled if the NFL wins its motion for a stay of the order ending the lockout. These are uncertain times in the NFL, and we’re all waiting to see what happens in the next few days.

But for now, the Lions are moving quickly to get back to work.
