Obama visits Revis Island

US President Barack Obama waves as he ar Getty Images

President Barack Obama finished one of the more embarrassing days in our recent political history with a visit to a surprise location: Revis Island.

Obama was in Manhattan on Thursday night for a trio of fund-raisers, and invited Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis to attend one of them.  They reportedly spoke for a few minutes.

“The president said to me, ‘How is the island?’ I laughed and said, ‘It’s good and I’m keeping it covered,'” Revis said in a statement released by his agent.  “Deep down, I can’t believe it that the president of the United States would know about Revis Island. It was an incredible experience.”

We know that folks lose their minds at the hint of something even remotely political, but we don’t think it’s political to think it’s cool the President is a big sports fan.

We would have really been impressed if he ended the conversation by saying, “Now let’s go eat a g-d snack!”

This is the same President that has time to fill out an NCAA bracket, go on ESPN to talk about it, etc. Why would anyone be shocked that he knows things about sports???

And no, I am not a Republican, lol

You’re right it was ONE of the most embarrassing days in recent political history… The most embarrassing day is when we voted the moron into office… Although we were voting on either a huge douche or a turd sandwich.

Obama needs to leave Washington and move to an island

I thought Obama was cool, picking out his NCAA bracket, having a beer on the white house lawn with Biden, and that guy to settle their differences…..Just a regular guy…But then, i saw him throw out the first pitch at a White Sox game..He may be a sports fan, but trust me, after that “9 year old” girl soft toss, he never played sports….it all seems political to me…..Hell, Nixon sent George Allen actual plays, how’d that work out….

How long until the “doesn’t have something better to do than learn the nicknames of NFL players”?

    lolololol…oh you guys

  6. axespray says: Apr 28, 2011 9:06 AM

or if revis said, “1-2-3 WHITE HOUSE!”

and wasn’t allowed to visit the president cause of the on-going CBA stuff.

And I’m sure the traffic from the ensuing flame war that follows anything remotely political was completely unintentional, right guys?

At least the economy is good on Revis Island. How are gas prices there?

  10. pwall1 says: Apr 28, 2011 9:24 AM

We’ve had Presidents on both sides of the isle who were big into sports. In one of Hunter S. Thompson’s books he talks about riding in a limo with Nixon specifically to talk about football.

I appreciate that Obama doesn’t just pretend to know what he’s talking about when it comes to sports.

obomiation should be focused on Ellis Island and stopping the illegals that are tearing this country apart, the economy, the wars overseas and thousands of other domestic problems in this country instead of hobnobbing with nfl players.
what a freakin disaster this “president” is…
go take another vacation you jackass, even tho you’ve been on one since you were inaugurated

  12. berniemadoffsides says: Apr 28, 2011 9:27 AM

Obama followed that question by stating, “I think you’re the best damn hockey player in the entire league, Darrelle!”

Embarrassing indeed, but that is nothing new for the republican party. They are experts in embarrassing themselves of late.

What would really be cool is if we had a president who actually did some work. Instead we have an unqualified street agitator who resents that the job of being president sometimes intrudes on the more important business of hobnobbing with celebrities, throwing parties, making frivolous TV appearances on imbecilic shows like Oprah and The View, hosting sports teams, playing golf, playing basketball, campaigning and most vital of all, vacationing. All billed to the taxpayer. It’s bad enough that we elected an incompetant, but did he have to be lazy as well?

Not all folks. Just the low IQ, hate speech radio listening, Hannity and Beck watching neanderthals that STILL can’t handle a black man as President.

You can bet your kid’s college fund not one of these “Joe the Plumber” clones made a peep when Bush Jr took off a whole week to go to China to watch the Olympics

  21. batfreight says: Apr 28, 2011 10:54 AM

The Obama defenders have exhausted their arsenal of responses…”racism” and “Bush did it too” ….The interesting question is, being that Obama is as much white as he is black, does criticizing him make you a racist against whites, blacks, or both? …just curious…

    @ clinton

You know I generally respect your opinions and appreciate your points and debates but what you just said is the most ignorant statement in the history of mankind. I understand you are obviously a left leaning guy politically and that is quite alright. After all the beauty of this country is our ability to debate politically to come to a mutually beneficial agreement. Your blanket statement about everyone who opposes the president as being racist is absolutely idiotic and inaccurate. As someone who is on the opposite of the aisle I dislike the man because of his destructive policies. The color of his skin is simply irrelevant to me.

The day after he was elected I wasn’t happy. However I looked at the bright side of things and recognized how far we had come as a country. After all he couldn’t win without the support of white people. Just because someone disagrees with a person doesn’t immediately make them a racist. Maybe you are a racist for disliking Bush? How does it feel? Probably not too good since it is likely not true.

Don’t fall into the trap that these media people keep talking about. There will always be a pocket of racist scumbags in this country but we do have a right to not vote for a man regardless of his skin color.

    Thanks.

Wait, so does he know nothing about sports or know too much? Is he un-athletic or does he play too much basketball and golf? I can’t keep straight all the different ways our President is supposedly inadequate.

  26. phonecops says: Apr 28, 2011 11:49 AM

I like that the President is a sports fan. I liked it when Bush threw out a first pitch and actually made it to the catcher. I like that Clinton took time to watch Arkansas football. And I even liked the fact that Nixon was such a sports nut that he sent a play to the Redskins. What I don’t like is the rancor involved when any political figure is discussed (O.K. maybe when Kerry called it Lambert field—he deserved it then) . But lets keep it to sports here guys, afterall if I wanted to talk politics, i’d do it somewhere else.

  27. tiger2471 says: Apr 28, 2011 11:58 AM

Wow, the ignorance and hatred of the right comes out whenever President Obama is even mentioned in an article. I’ll tell you what hitch your wagon to any number of the imbeciles running for President on the Republican side, yeah like Donald Trump, see if that wins you the White House. I’m willing to bet the American people would not be foolish enough to vote in any of the ridiculous candidates the Republicans are offering. The country is just now digging itself out of the hole GW left us in, talk about being a terrible President.

Unfortunately that group controls talk radio and makes up the base of the GOP.

  29. hineswardcriesafterfumbling says: Apr 28, 2011 1:06 PM

I love blanket statements. Republicans hate this, do that. Democrats don’t do this, hate that. I like that people vote strictly down political lines because thought and actual analysis is too much work. I like that every republican is a Glen Beck clone and is intimate with their relatives, while every democrat is a tree-hugging hippy with a vagina. Our country isn’t in the shape it’s in because of Obama or Bush. It is the way it is because we’re forced to elect scumbags on every side. Politician should be a dirty word, like kiss my politician or Mike Brown is such a politician I wish he’d die already.

Actual quote heard on election night, “Obama’s President! We can do whatever we want!”

  30. chapnastier says: Apr 28, 2011 1:21 PM

    @ Clinton

No sir, it doesn’t at all. I personally listen to talk radio, which I can assume you never have. I sir am part of the what would be considered the base of the GOP. The day I consider someone’s skin color over substance will be a cold day in hell. You are ignorant.

#1. Ellis Island? Get with it, dude. I know Republicans think ignorance is something to brag about… but pick up a g-d book. This isn’t the early 1900’s.

#2. Do you mean the wars George W Bush started? Or the economy that George W Bush ruined?

#3. Have fun voting for “The Donald” this year, he’s a much better option than Obama.

Obama has been president for over 2 years now, its his amplified mess. Realize that schmuck.

Obama engaged Lybia without congressional approval or immediate threat to Americans. That is what a real illegal war is.

Finally, a dried turd will be a better choice than Obama. Enjoy the 5 dollar a gallon gas you idiot.

keep talking trash about our president. Hes the one who made catching Osama the #1 priority in the war on terror, hes the one whos getting us out of Iraq and seeing to it that we get out of Afghanistan so talk all the crap your guys want but I believe his achievements under oath have been greater in 3 years than what Bush has accomplished.
