President Barack Obama finished one of the more embarrassing days in our recent political history with a visit to a surprise location: Revis Island.

Obama was in Manhattan on Thursday night for a trio of fund-raisers, and invited Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis to attend one of them. They reportedly spoke for a few minutes.

“The president said to me, ‘How is the island?’ I laughed and said, ‘It’s good and I’m keeping it covered,’” Revis said in a statement released by his agent. “Deep down, I can’t believe it that the president of the United States would know about Revis Island. It was an incredible experience.”

We know that folks lose their minds at the hint of something even remotely political, but we don’t think it’s political to think it’s cool the President is a big sports fan.

We would have really been impressed if he ended the conversation by saying, “Now let’s go eat a g-d snack!”
