Report: At least one team eliminates Da’Quan Bowers from board

NFL Network’s Albert Breer is pulling impressive double duty today, keeping everyone up to date on lockout-related developments via his Twitter account, as well as dropping notable nuggets about the NFL draft.

The biggest draft story Breer has broken┬áinvolves Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers.

According to Breer, Bowers has been completely eliminated from at least one team’s draft board, presumably due to concerns about his knee injury and the future possibility of microfracture surgery.

The team that has scratched Bowers — not just dropped his “draft grade” — is reportedly picking in the top half of the first round.

The latest PFT online mock draft has Bowers slipping to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 20 overall.

And it shouldn’t surprise anyone if Bowers falls further than that.

He shouldn’t be a 1st(or a 2nd) based on being a one year wonder in college.

Eliminated, really? You wouldn’t take a chance on this guy in the 4th-7th? Come on now…

So they wouldn’t take him in the seventh round and hope for a miracle? I seriously doubt it.

Yea right….he’s removed from the board because he’ll already be picked.

No team with 1/2 a brain would pass on him in the 3rd round or beyond.

By the end of the draft 31 team will have him off their board.

Why use a first-round pick (again) to take another DE from Clemson? Not good results with the first.

Hope he falls to Detroit in the 2nd!

I would love for the Bucs to pick another DE like Kerrigan in the 1st and steal him in the 2nd or 3rd

He’ll get drafted for sure but my guess is it won’t be before the third round if the stories of his knee are true.

If we’ve heard it pretty bad, my guess is its worse than that.

I know him personally. This kid is going to be great. His knee will be fine and in 3 years people will look at him like they did Randy Moss after the three years. They will wonder why they passed on him. I have never seen so much misinformation out about any player. He is using it all as fuel. Great kid, Great family, Great talent. At least he won’t get drafted by a crappy team.

He’s not going to the draft is he? He’ll be in the green room a long, long time.

    @ slemmebo,

Agreed. And so should Evan Silva. Huge doosh!!!

Removed completely? Wow, hard to believe. If this team really needed a pass rusher, why not take a late round flyer on Bowers? That would be an epic steal, if healthy. The league’s all about getting pressure on the QB. If his knee gives, then oh well.
