@ KINGGW….you know man i really do agree with what you said however i do believe that times are changing. i don`t know how old you are but when i watched football as a kid the idea of a rookie playing (let alone starting) in a game was totally unheard of. what i mean is the skill sets and the time line these guys have to become great has changed consideratly. also there is no arguing the stats you have on qb`s taken after the first round.

kaepernick and mallett are the two guys that i was most interested in this draft. there are a lot of things to like about this kid. big, fast, strong, smart, good arm, good kid. good pick.

Yet another qb taken too soon. I know 49er fans are excited, but Kaepernick like many of the qb’s in this draft should still be on the board. The NFL scouts simply overrate draft eligible qbs, we see it every year. With the exception of Drew Brees how many decent qbs have come out of the second round? But every year we hear how a Kellen Clemens, Trent Edwards, John Beck, Drew Stanton, Brian Brohm, Chad Henne, and Kevin Kolb is really a first round talent but just has a little bit of work to do. None of those qbs have been successful in the NFL. Im not saying Kaepernick cant be successful, but 49er fans should temper their expectations. Kaepernick isnt Montana and Harbaugh isnt Walsh.

1- Harbaugh has coached in the nfl before with the raiders.
2- Harbaugh has Head Coaching experience, regardless is college, but is still a head coaching job. Hue Jackson, no HC experience.

Harbaugh was the QB coach for the Oakland Raiders from 2002-2003 before going to the college level via taking the University of San Diego opening.

Oh wait, on 2nd thought the compensatory picks can’t be traded, but we will be picking in those rounds anyway because of those picks…not as big of a trade as the headline suggests.

I believe the 4th and 5th rounders were compensatory picks, but if not they have 2 compensatory picks in those rounds anyway.

Kaepernick is going to explode under Harbaugh. He already has more physical ability than nearly every QB in the NFL, he works extremely hard, a great leader, very smart. Harbaugh is the final piece to the puzzle and will help him to super stardom.

For those of us that loved CK, I had him as my 2nd best QB, this is a great fit.
