Ochocinco takes aim at Marvin Lewis

Chad Ochocinco AP

With a new quarterback and a new receiver drafted by the Bengals, it’s becoming more and more clear that Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco will soon be former members of the team.

And with Ochocinco already ticked off at coach Marvin Lewis, Ochocinco has decided to take things up a notch.

Said Ochocinco on Twitter (via Brad Well of StampedeBlue.com), “Lewis: who’s 60-67-1 all-time, 0-2 in playoffs, and only 2 seasons with +.500 record, can’t criticize my thumbs for tweeting. They win 4 me.”

It’s not smart for Ochocinco to antagonize Lewis.  The Bengals can choose to keep him around deep into the offseason, cutting him on the eve of the regular-season opener and as a practical matter making it difficult for him to make an impact with a new team in 2011.

And if Ochocinco gets frustrated while being frozen in place by the Bengals, he could say or do something that would justify a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.

At least it’ll be entertaining.

Mike, it’s because of the comment Marvin made about Chad: Marvin Lewis: “Chad (Ochocinco) keeps talking with his thumbs.” I personally think Marvin’s comments are hilarious. You can tell he is absolutely fed up with Chad’s antics and have had enough of it. I guess I am still a little soft for Chad because he gave me a PS3 at his football camp 4 years ago!

“It’s not smart for Ochocinco to antagonize Lewis.”

Maybe not, but he’s right. Lewis has done squat there and gets an extension. Because the owner is too cheap and well, not all there, and opted to keep him vs. paying him and a new coach.

LoL….it is entertaining. The Bengals are a carnival, not enough talent to be a circus.

    Chad doesn’t do smart.

Ocho, show up, do your stuff, be nice and ask for a trade to Dallas. We’ll trade Roy for you straight up, man!

  7. Steve says: Apr 29, 2011 9:50 PM

That may be true, Chad, but I CAN criticize your two thumbs for their contributions to all of your drops the last 3 years. You hang in there, buddy. Those thumbs will come in handy on your hitchhike to obscurity.

  8. drmonkeyarmy says: Apr 29, 2011 10:04 PM

Ocho might be obnoxious but he is/was a ton better player than Marvin Lewis is head coach.

  9. crohrbaugh says: Apr 29, 2011 10:05 PM

Somehow Chad conveniently overlooks his role in those 67 loses , and his huge role in the two playoff loses. Including losing his mind and going after a coach at halftime against the steelers when the bengals were winning!

What do you say to that Chad? I’m sure you are reading anything about you.

Marvin is right – he can’t stand it if he’s not being talked about do he gets himself some attention.

It would be awesome if brown trades Chad and Carson to the same team so they have to put up with each other.

Must have missed the fact that Chad O’Big Mouth has played his entire career. So I think its pretty sad that your just as responsible for that stellar record there buddy. Also maybe you should have shoved those thumbs in your mouth during one of the playoff games instead of punching your coach.

  11. jarfitz says: Apr 29, 2011 10:15 PM

Isn’t it Ocho’s job to get wins for his coach? What’s his career record?

“can’t criticize my thumbs for tweeting. They win 4 me.”

Tragic chad has been MIA for about 3 years…and he wants to brag on his ability to win with “tweeting”…cuz lord knows he hasnt made himself useful on a football field in ages

  13. thetooloftools says: Apr 29, 2011 10:24 PM

Chad Ochojohnsonwhatever is an idiot. He is out of gas and needs to go. He wants to still be relevent but isn’t. Don’t blame Marvin Lewis for him and T.O. walking through their pass routes thinking defences were just going to cave.
Who does he think he is… LeBron James.
    Hahahahahahah :o)

Hasn’t done crap in the last three years!

Cut him and send him off to wherever; no chance he’ll make a big contribution (except with his mouth!).

Spite is a horrible reason to subject AJ Green to the cancer that is Chad EgoCinco. Just cut your losses and move on with the new offensive nucleus of Green, Gresham, Shipley & Dalton.

Why do we keep talking about a very average WR on the wrong side of 30. His mouth is the only thing that keeps him relevant.

  21. tfbuckfutter says: Apr 29, 2011 11:00 PM

So….The Bengals are 60-67-1 with Marvin Lewis as the coach, but 68-91-1 overall with Ochocinco Johnson (I call him that because “Chad” is the stupid part of his birth name, not “Johnson”)…..

Yeah, clearly Marv is the problem.

  22. 52sackmachine says: Apr 29, 2011 11:07 PM

Chad just might actually end up catching passes from Tom Brady afterall. After all the patriots know how to handle players with bad character issues. The main thing Chad has to focus on is playing football, and keep his mouth shut when it happens. Otherwise he will end up in Oakland. A place nobody wants to play anymore!.Why cuz they suck!!

  23. thefiesty1 says: Apr 29, 2011 11:07 PM

Shut up and go to Mexico.

  24. 1buckeye76 says: Apr 29, 2011 11:07 PM

Chad is all talk, has been for years. He has never once showed up against pittsburgh – see cowher’s comments on how overrated he is. we should have traded this fool the second he changed his name – another poor decision by MB. hey chad? how many balls has marvin dropped on 3rd and absolutely must convert? None. You know, sometimes, i’m pretty sure, winning teams are made up of winners, not talkers filled to their eyeballs with bravado. look it up chad, its a real word.

  25. bfridley says: Apr 29, 2011 11:13 PM

The Bengals get two good players in a decade… one of them openly criticizes the head coach… the other would rather not play football, than play for the Bengals…

    Awesome organization.

    ————————————–

A WRs role is pretty minor in wins/losses. There are several other people to blame before the WR…. especially when that WR was constantly having 1100+ yard seasons. What else was Chad suppose to do? He was doing his job. It’s not his fault the coaches and defense were absolutely horrible in Cinci for most of Chads career.

And if that halftime fight was true, why hasn’t Marvin come out and said it was true yet? He hasn’t held back on anything else he has to say about Chad over the past 4-6 months.

  27. enders9 says: Apr 29, 2011 11:23 PM

Since Marvin has been the Bengals head coach, Chad has the been the most consistent player on the team. Average over 1150 yards per season and over 7 TDs.

Chad did his job. Marvin didn’t/hasn’t.

How many first round picks has Marvin made that actually amounted to anything? Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph….. anyone else? I’m pretty sure I heard someone on NFLN or ESPN today say that no player that Marvin has ever drafted has made the pro bowl. That sounds like a coaching problem to me, not a WR problem.

  28. msadpoet says: Apr 29, 2011 11:30 PM

Guess the news. You lose. Chad Johnson has been the most overrated player in the entire NFL for the past three years. Now that he is in the twilight of his career, he is making one last attempt at a “look at me” moment. Face it man, your old and tired and done. Your an afterthought. Your done. The only person in the entire NFL that even believed in you was Lewis. And, like expected, you ruined that. Good luck with the whole Cash For Gold thing…..

  29. hmink96 says: Apr 29, 2011 11:39 PM

chad is too worried about his next deal with VH1. He seems to be doing all the things that will help his next tv show draw ratings on the most pathetic channel imaginable( ie basketball/football wives, mafia wives among others) than having the best team in all of ohio.

  30. 23chameleons says: Apr 29, 2011 11:43 PM

I wonder how much of the coach’s decisions were the biggest contributing factors in those loses compared to the players actions on the field …

Why is it that he seems more interested in “winning” off the field than on it ?

  31. drbandkgb says: Apr 29, 2011 11:53 PM

Ive always liked 85… But he needs to shut up…
All he is doing is killing any contract he will get with the next team he plays for.. 85s issue is he is an Avg WR.. His bet years were when Chris Henry was around.. Teams started double teaming #15 in 05 and 85 caught some balls.. The Bengals should have took Washingtons #1 pick a few years back..

    A Bengals fan for life

  38. Canyonero says: Apr 30, 2011 1:11 AM

I like Chad but calling out his coach’s career numbers is lame. It’s petulant & childish to throw up “evidence” like that.

Besides, Chad was ON THE TEAM for all that. Maybe Chad hasn’t added that up. And perhaps Marvin Lewis should have cut him earlier.

(They shoulda taken the Redskins 1st round pick offer a couple years ago, but that’s on Mike Brown.)

Being a lifelong Bengals fan…..Carson looked like a different QB against the Chargers last season when “Terrible” Owens and Ocho Stinko were sitting on the bench. Carson torched the #1 pass defense with Jerome Simpson and A Caldwell….perhaps it has to do with want to….not ego.

I will be sad to see Carson go but Terrible Owens and Ocho Stinko cannot hit the road fast enough…unless you really desire another season of alligator arms, dropped passes and terrible route running.

Chad at this point has not had a quality game against a Top CB since……I really cannot remember when. Don’t let the door hit you in the butt on the way out Chad.

Yeah, Lewis is a sub .500 coach – And Chad and their ‘elite’ quarterback were there for every bit of it. Shut up, dude. Even as a Steeler fan, I always liked him. Now he’s a clown. You’re not ‘funny’ anymore when you lose the ability to back up your big ass mouth.

The Chargers didn’t even look like they wanted to play in that game. Proof of that was on that long TD pass to Simpson when the Chargers were dang near walking to line up on defense which led to them getting burned.

People like to bring up the Chargers game when defending Carson, but how about the Ravens game that happened the very next week? Carson, still without Chad and TO, returns to form against a defense that is trying. Throws two terrible interceptions, and then completely over throws a guy (who is wide open) 10 feet in front of him for the game winning TD. This throw wasn’t even close, I think the fans in the first row had a better chance of catching it than the Bengals player (FB I think?) did.

4 dozen comments on a situation that, had it been any other team, likely wouldn’t have been reported. Sheesh. Looking forward to a new tab at the top of the page: “DramaTalk, sponsored by TMZ”… I’ll know I can find my Bengals news there.

In *football* news, the team has taken 3 decent draft picks so far this year (not real sure about Moch yet), let’s hope they can make a few more team-builders and then clean the drama out of the locker room.

Ever single person that opens an Ochocinco article is an enabler. The media reports on things that are going to generate hits. That’s why Chad gets so much media attention, he has a huge fanbase as well as a huge haterbase. Why isn’t it valid for him to throw out statistics? Marvin fired at him, and it’s not like chad made some arbitrary crap up, he fired back with facts. Sure maybe Chad is over the hill and no longer a great receiver, but truth is Marvin has always been terrible. Everyone likes to toss out that Chad has never been good…but leading the conference (sometimes even the whole NFL) in yards for 4-5 years means you’re good. I like Chad because he brought a lot of good to the Bengals, and even when they were losing it was still fun to watch. Also, anytime some lame-ass calls him OchoStinko it makes him look like less of a lame loser by comparison.

He has more receiving yards in the same amount of time as Reggie Wayne(whom many consider one of the top receivers in the game currently), without having the best QB in the league, and he did it with 36 less receptions. So facts show he is better than Reggie Wayne. And to the TO haters…isn’t he statistically the #2 receiver of all time? Yeah, thought so.
