Cardinals continue to remake backfield

The Cardinals backfield is going to look rather different next year.

After taking Ryan Williams high in the second round, Arizona drafted UConn fullback Anthony Sherman in the fifth round.  He was the top-ranked fullback in the class.

Ken Whisenhunt is clearly not happy with the production he got in the running game last year.

“To be quite honest with you, we’re looking at number 38 and we got the 15th-ranked player on our board staring us back in the face,” Whisenhunt said about Williams.  “He brings a lot of things to the table as a running back that are pretty unique — size, speed, the way he runs.”
Consider Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower put on notice.

They can remake the backfield with a reecarnated Jim Brown, Gale Sayers and Barry Sanders and they STILL ain’t getting back to the playoffs.

They had 2 fluky years with Warner. Thats it.
Whisenhut blew this team up when he let his personal pride get in the way and he never gave Leinart a chance.

Maybe their plan is to finish last this season and get Luck-y in the next year’s draft.

If we have a guy like Bulger or Kolb, AZ will win the division. Great secondary, good front 3, defense should be better with Horton as DC. Offensively, they still have Fitz/Breaston/Doucet, and now they have 3 talented RBs and a game-changer in Stephens-Howling.

In the return game, LSH was already one of the best in the league, Peterson makes them even more dangerous.

Maybe some of you forgot how pathetic the west was last year, AZ was only 2 games behind Seattle. If you don’t think they can contend, you’re kidding yourselves.

Contending to win the division is one thing. Contending to win a championship is a whole different world, and the Cards just ain’t gonna contend there.

If you are content on winning a division each year with a below .500 record , then by all means set that bar low buddy. But most people are competitors and winners, and they want the big prize and anything less is unacceptable

To the genius above me, winning the division gets you into the playoffs thus it puts you in the path to the Super Bowl.

So, winning the division is only part of the process.

Look at the Giants and Buc’s last year: both with 10-6 records and where did it get them.

So, I’ll reiterate this for you, win your division to earn a playoff spot to be able to contend in the teams ultimate goal which is win the Super Bowl.

Look at how long it took the Packers to win the Super Bowl again. Team management also plays into this and they did great in rebuilding the team under their GM T.T.
