If the Titans do in fact release him, I would have a problem if Washington did sign him, as longs as they have Bruce Allen negotiate the contract, and not let Snyder tie him in on rediculous money.

Young isn’t particularly accurate, doesn’t have a great arm and is weak mentally, but he has a very good winning record as a starter. A far better record than Kerry Collins who was viewed as the safe pair of hands.

For all of Young’s negatives, the Titans were a much more successful team with him in it than they were without him. So, I’d be willing to see him come in an compete for the starting job. Maybe Shanahan will be the right coach for him. If he gets cut, the humiliation might be enough to kick start his work ethic.

A motivated Young would provide us with a mobile quaterback for a few years. I don’t think he is a long term solution. To much of his success comes from running the ball and I doubt he will stay healthy for very long, but he could provide a nice stop gap.

Unfortunately, I think Kyle Shanahan will would vote against it. He wants another Matt Schaub, an accurate and disciplined passer. To be fair, Kyle was against bringing in McNabb. His father over-ruled him and Kyle was shown to be right. That could give him enough credibility for him to be given more input in to or even complete control over choosing a new QB.

Beck never really got much of a shot in Miami and he didn’t have a lot to work with, either. Who knows, maybe he’ll get a few starts, go on a run and make a name for himself but realistically he’s an emergency starter at best right now. Miami drafted him so high because they love trying to find that “good enough” QB to lead their obsolete “methodical ball control” offense instead of finding a guy who might be able to actually win a few games through the air. They’re still doing it.

It’s fairly common knowledge that Shanny and Shefty are very close since Shefty worked as a beat writer for the Broncos when Shanny was coach there.

Shanny has pretty much been using Shefty as his personal leak machine ever since.

So I believe that Shanahan is SAYING he thinks Beck can be his starter- but in this case I think he may be using it a smoke screen to hide his interest in a QB currently elsewhere.

It’s unlikely they’ll have to fight for Rex Grossman’s signature, who now has two years under his belt in Kyle Shanahan’s system, and was his choice to replace McNabb as starter last year.

More importantly, the Redskins haven’t said they are getting rid of McNabb. Again, that’s what the tv talking heads are saying, not the Redskins.

Shanahan has already conclusively demonstrated with Haynesworth that he has zero problem keeping a player who wants away. McNabb can feel as slighted as he wants, if Shanahan decides to keep him Donovan has no choice but to stay and try to play.

Haynesworth has shown what happens to a reputation if you make no effort. If McNabb wants out he’ll have to generate trade interest. To do that he’ll have to play and play well. To do that he is going to have work hard and do what he is told.

I’d rather have McNabb gone. The worm burners are just too frustrating and I want a QB who actually takes snaps in practice. Still, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see McNabb starting game 1.

Afterall, Jason La Canfora says it is a certainty that McNabb is leaving and JLaC is always wrong.

Mcnabb will be the starter in DC this season. if the Skins wanted to move Mcnabb ..they would have done it BEFORE the lockout to get more picks in this years draft without having to trade down twice. Also why would they extend his contract if they were ridding of him

He was benched the last 3 games cause the Skins were out of the playoffs officially and its the head coaches first year and he wanted to see what the other QBs have grasped and see Grossman play with bullets flying.
