everyone is quick to dismiss McNabb returning. He's still on the roster, and Snyder's $$ can make the disagreement with coaches all better as long as the COACHES want to continue working with this veteran QB.

As for Beck, he'd be a disaster, we'd be better off putting a wideout playing wildcat back there.

Okay guys, for those who believe that McNabb will be the Skins QB next year, let's get one thing straight. You owe him EIGHT FIGURES if he's on the team next year. Anybody see anything worth 8 figures out of DonnyMac last year? I thought so. For those who believe that a team would actually trade for McNabb, let's get one thing straight. The new team would owe McNabb EIGHT FIGURES next year. Anybody think there's a team out there which is that stupid? I thought so.

"skins23 says:

Vince Young will be starting for the Skins next year."

If the Titans do in fact release him, I would have a problem if Washington did sign him, as longs as they have Bruce Allen negotiate the contract, and not let Snyder tie him in on rediculous money.

Young isn't particularly accurate, doesn't have a great arm and is weak mentally, but he has a very good winning record as a starter. A far better record than Kerry Collins who was viewed as the safe pair of hands.

For all of Young's negatives, the Titans were a much more successful team with him in it than they were without him. So, I'd be willing to see him come in an compete for the starting job. Maybe Shanahan will be the right coach for him. If he gets cut, the humiliation might be enough to kick start his work ethic.

A motivated Young would provide us with a mobile quaterback for a few years. I don't think he is a long term solution. To much of his success comes from running the ball and I doubt he will stay healthy for very long, but he could provide a nice stop gap.

Unfortunately, I think Kyle Shanahan will would vote against it. He wants another Matt Schaub, an accurate and disciplined passer. To be fair, Kyle was against bringing in McNabb. His father over-ruled him and Kyle was shown to be right. That could give him enough credibility for him to be given more input in to or even complete control over choosing a new QB.

Shanahan is also an idiotic jackass because he cares more about having crap run his son's way instead of winning.

So what if Donovan doesn't execute Kyle's offense exactly the way it's supposed to be. Kyle Shanahan had Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub, a zone-blocking line, and a better Steve Slaton in Houston. Anyone can look good with them!!!!

Mike Shanahan, in Washington be a coach first and "Daddy" later!!! Your son sucks!!! Accept reality you jerk!!!!

Brian Mitchell, the ex-Washington D.C. radio host and star return specialist for the Redskins and Eagles, explained greatly on how stupid people like Shanahan can get ahead.

He had an ex-MVP and 3-time Super Bowl runner up QB in John Elway; a Denver Bronco squad that had illegal chop blocks and salary cap violations to win two Super Bowls.

Plus, you know Shanahan is stupid when he kisses George W. Bush's butt. Especially after many Independents and non-Republican Party Libertarians viewed him as one of the worst of all time and 81% of "Dan Patrick Show" pollsters rated his 8 years as worse than Matt Millen's.

Hello all, long time PFT Reader, first post. There is no way McNabb will not be the Skins QB next year. The reasons are simple, there’s nobody better than him available. Neither Grossman nor Beck is better and the free agent pool is weak this year for QB’s. Shanny will use him this year and then see how things go. There’s just no benefit to trading him. On the other topic, they are building up Beck in hopes of luring a team in for a trade. A lot of teams didn’t get to draft decent QB this year. BTW what’s wrong with that Boysroll guy? I respect all other NFC EAST teams (don’t necessarily like to see them win against us) I also am in interested in other people’s opinions, but that guy just writes the dumbest stuff I’ve ever seen. Cowboys fans, he make you look real bad."

what has mcnabb done lately top the cowboys......?
i believe it was a 13-7 crapfest and the year before that his @ss was dominated on the eagles

Once again, every decision the Redskins make is blown out of proportion. As a Skins fan I don't want Beck to start either, but what's the big deal. It's better than putting any other rookie behind a shoddy line and asking him to start. Besides, the team needs depth just as much as a QB. The wrong QB pick this year would've royally srewed the organization for years!

The 2007 Dolphins were horrible, but definitely not the worst single-season team ever. The winless Lions team, the expansion Bucs, the 82 Colts, etc. Worst coached team ever? Possibly.

Beck never really got much of a shot in Miami and he didn't have a lot to work with, either. Who knows, maybe he'll get a few starts, go on a run and make a name for himself but realistically he's an emergency starter at best right now. Miami drafted him so high because they love trying to find that "good enough" QB to lead their obsolete "methodical ball control" offense instead of finding a guy who might be able to actually win a few games through the air. They're still doing it.

I read these blogs everyday, the sad thing is all the hate on this site.
I watched every minute of every game last year, and I guess im blind, but w/ what Mcnabb had to work w/ he did a pretty good job!
maybe nobody noticed they couldnt block anybody? very OLD recievers tire old legs. portis hurt, torain hurt, not much of a running game, how many missed field-goals? i lost count. lets not forget our D that went from 10 to 30th?
and there going to throw Mnabb under the bus, they were also out coached, but of course Mnabb sucks its all his fault, bring in grossman.
I guess im dumb, but i still think Mnabb is there best option, and should have drafted a QB in waiting?
grossman is a turn over machine, how many turn overs did he have, too many?

So Adam Schefter now speaks for the Redskins? I didn’t know he was their P.R. man.

It's fairly common knowledge that Shanny and Shefty are very close since Shefty worked as a beat writer for the Broncos when Shanny was coach there.

Shanny has pretty much been using Shefty as his personal leak machine ever since.

So I believe that Shanahan is SAYING he thinks Beck can be his starter- but in this case I think he may be using it a smoke screen to hide his interest in a QB currently elsewhere.

I can not believe people actually believe this garbage….Redskins have said nothing of the sort…Beck isn’t even under contract….

Ok Leevi.......First off Beck is under contract so u already dont even have a clue....Grossman is the one nt under contract.....and Beck has been working out with Brees and Rodgers for the last 3 months.....U and i both know McNabb is gone.....not that i want that but hey that was ruined last year when he was benched for REX against the LIONS......Mcnabb technically could be held onto until the day after the 1st game of the year and then cut.....if we dont cut him by that point we owe him 10.5 million....Hes gone.....

Alot of people are quick to jump to conclusions cause we didnt take a QB......Shanny s smarter than me or u or anyone else on here...otherwise u or I would be the coach and head of personnel....im not saying Beck will be the starter....It will be Rex not that im all for that but hey at least he knows the system....Im not gona say hey we will be 10 -6 and all that....WE are rebuilding....all u gotta do is look at this DRAFT...We went from 7 picks originally ( before compensatory picks were given) to 12 by the end of the draft.....Thats how u build a team.....if u take 12 guys odds are at least 6 will make ur roster....at least 3 or 4 will be starters because we had nobody last year....Scheffter is an idiot.....We have all of free agency still to fill the other needs ....

2nd year in the 3-4 will be way better maybe top 15 then next offseason u finish adding the peices...and finish fixing the offense....Its a 3 year plan if it works GREAT if not at least we put the peices in place for whoever is next....Atogwe is a huge upgrade at FS over Kareem Moore.....We were 6-10 and missed an extra point with 7 secs left aainst tampa.....and were in every game but the Philly monday nighter.....that was all in a totally new system on boh sides of the ball and Landry ( who was still the leading vote getter for SS in the NFC for the probowl) was out after week 10 for the rest of the year....in the 2nd year we will be a lil better....not gr8 but better....we lost to dallas and the gmen by 3 the last few weeks of the year.....for as bad as it was we almost finished .500.......

Im a diehard trust me on that and watching this draft i was way excited to see all the trades down to add more bodies....Its the 1st time weve seen that since Mike Ditka gave us his whole draft to trade up for Ricky Williams....Its a new regime...u may believe in Shanny and u may not and thats fine but in the end hes way better than most coaches out there.....Remember people say without Terrell Davis he never woulda won a SuperBowl.....even Elway said Davis was the key.....Shanny drafted him in the 6th round.....so in my book 2 Super Bowls are 2 Super Bowls.....He put the players around Elway to do it not just some IDIOT......

Nope. The Redskins are going to trade for a veteran QB. And no Eagles fans, it won't be the fraud Kevin Kolb, who is famous merely for being the great hope for the Rush Limbaugh and Angelo Cataldi fans in Philadelphia. (Quick ... what's Kolb's record as a starter? What are his stats against GOOD teams with a pass rush and a decent secondary? Thought so.) Instead, it will be for a guy who can actually play. The Shanahan system requires a guy who can scramble and can get the ball down the field vertically. So no Kolb, and certainly no John Beck. While Andrew Luck would fit the bill perfectly, the Redskins cannot bank on getting the #1 overall pick. (That was why the Panthers went ahead and pulled the trigger on Cam Newton instead of going defense and trying to get Luck next season.) Instead, the QB in question is the backup for the Green Bay Packers! The 'Skins are going to land Matt Flynn. He was the guy who led LSU to a national title in 2007. He would have been drafted higher, but like Cam Newton, he only got to play one season (thanks to JaMarcus Russell playing in front of him ... yes Russell was actually a good college player who just mailed it in once he got the big NFL signing bonus). Unfortunately, he got injured during the season and never got a chance to show what he could really do. Flynn literally led LSU to a national title while playing hurt, while hobbling on injured wheels.

Here's betting that the Redskins will deal for Flynn as soon as the lockout is lifted. The question isn't why the Redskins didn't draft a QB. (It seems rather clear that the only QBs that the Redskins wanted were Newton and Locker. They had no interest in Gabbert and Kapernick, because they could have gotten either.) Instead, it is why they didn't do squat to address their horrible OL, or their atrocious WRs other than getting Leonard Hankerson, who is merely a possession WR. QBs in DC have been getting killed by bad OLs for over a decade, and all the Redskins do is add a guy in the 7th round. Sorry, but adding a pair of front seven players for their 3-4 defense isn't going to protect their QB or give him anyone to throw the ball to downfield!

I hate the Redskins, I used to be a fan but jumped ship when the Panthers were created. It is bad enough that they suck, but they are just a disaster in everything they do. It was a circus last year. Wish Snider would sell the team, all the problems started when came into the picture.

I support Donovan.""""

LOL a Panthers fan who admits he jumped ship and isn't loyal...LOL and the real funny part...A panthers fan saying the Skins suck?

IS IT NOT FACT>>>THAT THE PANTHERS WERE 2 & 14 & DEAD LAST IN THE NFL THIS PAST SEASON???? Didn't they just a "top" QB last season too? How did that pan out?

Actually...how many rings do the Panthers have? 0 How many SB appearances? 1

Skins have 5 appearences and 3 SB victories...

There are a lot of fans of many teams that have the right to talk smack..But get real sit down and shut up...You and your team is not one of them! lol

Beck is a guy who was never able to wrest the back-up role from Troy Smith in his short stay in Baltimore, let alone start. And that was with a former Miami OC who was pulling for him. Was only talked about as a potential starter for teams that run the wildcat, and even then there were typically higher ranked options.
Well the Redskins haven't tried to sell him as starter. So far it has just been a bunch of media guys saying that Beck will be their number 1. The Redskins have said they feel Beck has talent, but then every team says that about every player on their roster.

It's unlikely they'll have to fight for Rex Grossman's signature, who now has two years under his belt in Kyle Shanahan's system, and was his choice to replace McNabb as starter last year.

More importantly, the Redskins haven't said they are getting rid of McNabb. Again, that's what the tv talking heads are saying, not the Redskins.

Shanahan has already conclusively demonstrated with Haynesworth that he has zero problem keeping a player who wants away. McNabb can feel as slighted as he wants, if Shanahan decides to keep him Donovan has no choice but to stay and try to play.

Haynesworth has shown what happens to a reputation if you make no effort. If McNabb wants out he'll have to generate trade interest. To do that he'll have to play and play well. To do that he is going to have work hard and do what he is told.

I'd rather have McNabb gone. The worm burners are just too frustrating and I want a QB who actually takes snaps in practice. Still, it wouldn't be a surprise to see McNabb starting game 1.

Afterall, Jason La Canfora says it is a certainty that McNabb is leaving and JLaC is always wrong.

I can not believe people actually believe this garbage....Redskins have said nothing of the sort...Beck isn't even under contract....

I see it different...I think the fact that Mcnabb is the only QB under contract and the fact they didn't draft a QB at all(same people telling you this garbage is the same people who said Skins are no doubt drafting a qb)

Mcnabb will be the starter in DC this season. if the Skins wanted to move Mcnabb ..they would have done it BEFORE the lockout to get more picks in this years draft without having to trade down twice. Also why would they extend his contract if they were ridding of him
?

Not one quote..i will repeat...NOT ONE QUOTE from Skins...McNabb or any party involved has said McNabb was leaving execpt THE MEDIA!

Why cause he was benched the last 3 games to evaluate Grossman and Beck like Shanny said he was going to?

He was benched the last 3 games cause the Skins were out of the playoffs officially and its the head coaches first year and he wanted to see what the other QBs have grasped and see Grossman play with bullets flying.

then they asked Shanny...Why is Mcnabb 3rd string? Cause have to have your roster order before each game and NFL rules won't allow a 3rd string to leap frog over #2 in a game...

THEN..shanny was asked...if Mcnabb coming back and shanny said" I Guarantee no player a roster spot next year" The media took those 3 questions and answers and ran with it.....
