A new round of Dez Bryant criticism starts after he doesn’t show to facility

Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, Tom Ciskowski AP

We were so caught up in the draft over the weekend that we missed the latest round of Dallas’ favorite offseason sport: Dissecting Dez Bryant.

Randy Galloway of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram called Bryant an “idiot” two days after Bryant didn’t show up to the Cowboys facility when it was open to veterans on Friday.   Bryant’s biggest problem?  Owner Jerry Jones said he would sit-down with Bryant on Friday.

Bryant never showed up, and Jones covered for him over the weekend, saying the owner was too busy with the draft to meet up.   Jones insisted they talked Thursday night.

Galloway says, however, the training staff was “waiting eagerly” to see Bryant’s ankle, which he broke early last season.  With the lockout back on, it’s also uncertain when Bryant will be able to have another sit down with his new receivers coach Jimmy Robinson.

“Dez no-showed,” Galloway wrote. “And although Jerry tried to alibi for Bryant on Friday, let’s be clear here. Dez out-and-out punked Jerry by no-showing.”

Says Bryant’s adviser David Wells: “I’ve got a lot of calls on it, but I truly don’t know what happened.”

It’s hard to say whether any of this matters.  We can say that Bryant is under the microscope locally now more than ever.

I am sure a reporter knows more about what is going on than Jerry Jones.

Did anyone check for him at the mall?

His adviser is an idiot, if the adviser is clueless the client must be damn near comatose. Did anybody check the malls? Jewelry stores?

Is this what the media has reduced itself to these days? SO WHAT?! How many other players didn’t show up? Jerry is his boss and if he had an understanding with him then none of the other people really matter. I don’t understand why the media wants to crucify this kid so badly.

If there is any owner in the National Football League who deserves Dez Bryant, it is without question Jerry Jones.

  6. boysroll says: May 2, 2011 9:35 AM

is this really newworthy…It sounds like there are alot of bitter/JEALOUS people because the boys stole this guy in the draft last year and we all know he is going to be a beat for this explosive offense.

    COME ON MAN!!!!!….LMAO.

You have more FLAKE players coming out of College today then ever before. If you draft these Punks you deserve all you get. Proud of Al Davis for not moving up to try and get the Codeine Corner Smith. He learned a hard lesson with Russell and his Codeine and Jolly Ranchers. There is an old saying “You cannot FIX STUPID” some of these owners should learn that, next up? the Ravens and The Codeine Kid Jimmy Smith.

This guy is going to make the T.O. days seem like a breeze. He displayed Diva behavior all last season. He was obviously going to get worse. Great Talent. Even bigger head case.

I was thinking Danny Snider a close second.
He came up a little short, again.

There was an end-of-the-month sale at the Golderama in the Northpark Mall in Dallas. Mystery solved.

He couldn’t get to the meeting in time due to having to stop and pull his pants up every 3 steps.

Another example of selfish, ungrateful, and unaccountable behavior by these “partners”

Am I supposed to believe that Jerry wanted to speak to Dez, and then Dez no shows and Jerry is cool with it?

Sorry, can’t believe that Dez would do that and Jerry would allow that. From all the reports from you guys about Dez, this dude doesn’t seem to be on that level of disrespect. I can’t believe that he would say F U to Jerry and Jerry would take it. Sorry… I think this is a case of PFT getting information but not from the people involved, because it doesn’t concern PFT or Randy Galloway, who is a blow hard btw.

When reading any story, it’s always best to consider the source. In this case, the source is Randy Galloway, who is lovingly known as “Grandpa Urine” in the DFW area. Galloway is a longtime member of the DFW newspaper/radio media. He has made a very good living being a Jones/Cowboys contrarian. Anything negative that Galloway can write about Jones or the Cowboys, puts money in Randy’s pocket. Grandpa Urine just cashed another check.

Yeah I’m sure that folks are totally jealous that they don’t have a wildcard, diva receiver with red flags all over him.

I wish my team had a receiver like this. -_-

Appearance is reality. Wait. That’s not my thought; I think Rolling Stone wrote that like 20 years ago and it’s true today.

But this is a punk and, a) doesn’t care, b) didn’t have a good enough rookie year that he shouldn’t not care, c) as a Cowboy fan wouldn’t you want Dez obsessed with his ankle rehab not ignoring it.

Further if his agent ‘truly didn’t know’, isn’t that code for he never got ahold of Dez during that brief period Dez should have appeared at the Cowboy facility? Yes. I think that’s what it means. that David Wells didn’t connect with Bryant meaning Bryant, soooooo self-absorbed, didn’t know he was supposed to show up. Ignorant

So now you’ve got Dez Bryant ignoring his team, his rehab, his agent. Drug test this guy today! And not just urine, hair follicle! He’s off the rails!

Good job, Jerrah! You got your guy. Good luck with that. Like Cutler, like Jason Kidd, just guys that a fan can see their DNA reads: no championships. And if I’m wrong…I’m not wrong.

Before we react too harshly toward Dez Bryant because of Galloway’s article, it would help to know how many injured NFL players failed to visit their teams during the brief lockout window last Friday.

I imagine there were dozens and dozens of players who didn’t make it in time.

It seems to me there are a lot of people waiting and hoping for this young man to do something, or even nothing, so they can criticize him without all of the facts.

I have heard nothing about any criminal accusations against him, even though he was raised by a single mother. He may be a little bit of a knucklehead, as many young people are, but let’s save the piling on for if/when he actually does something to deserve it.

boysroll is the most oblivious person I have ever seen write anything on this site… He will make an excuse for anything that has a star on it. Dude was mia for more than half the year last year and now he wants to comment about a player that wont meet with his owner. Well there is that and he infatuation that he has with the skins.

I am sure he is gonna be a “beat” next year.

    dummy

    @karlpilkington AKA “Hot Karl”

Unless I’m mistakened here, you seem to be posting on a Cowboys’ story criticizing a guy for posting on a Redskins’ story. Of course, you regularly post regarding Dallas stories, so your logic seems, at best, flawed. Could it be that you’re like Little Danny and you’ve got your panties in a wad?

  28. granadafan says: May 2, 2011 4:28 PM

Give Dez a break. It’s hard to move fast when your pants are damn low.

Is that really any worse than the people who will blindly criticize anything that has a star on it?

Josh McDaniels legacy in Denver; DOLPHINS wide out stabbed by PO’d wife, BEARS QB “Crybaby” Cutler quits on team in championship game, Dez Bryant NOT sued by DENVER jewelry store & mall.

Best of luck Miami, Chicago & Dallas!
