rocketdog… Now that’s a really, really great post! I concur with most everything that you say except that I think you’re underestimating what Carson Palmer could bring to the table once he’s freed from enslavement in Cincinnati.

The high price the Bears paid for Jay Cutler was highlighted by two first rounders and a third rounder, but the Bears also got back a 5th rounder who they used to draft starting WR Johnny Knox (more luck than good negotiating skills).

There’s NO WAY Kolb is worth two number ones, or a number one and a number two, but I think that that’s what they Eagles are going to be seeking (if not more).

Elway clearly doesn’t like Orton much, but I think he’s too skid-dish right now to hand over the team to Tebow, so I don’t see him trading Orton until at least after next season.

If Brown relents and decides to free Palmer, I think that Palmer can be had for only one future #1 pick and maybe a 4th rounder that can escalate based upon defined performance milestones.

Marc Bulger is an unrestricted free agent and is clearly the fall back plan; that might make sense if the Cardinals were sold on a developmental QB currently on their roster, but as you point out, right now they don’t have one of those.

If all of the above plays out, Palmer is the best “value” out there for the Cardinals, unless the Eagles asking price comes down to earth. JOMO.

The Eagles would be crazy to trade Kolb . We own him cheap (1.4 mil) . And with Vick’s style of play he is bound to get hurt . Plus I saw him regressing to his old Atlanta self late in the season .That pick to close the GB game was just STUPID ! It was 1st down , 33 sec on the clock , and he had Macklin wide open down the middle !!! When Vick goes down , or goes into meltdown , do you really want to hand the keys to Kafka who has NEVER taken a snap in a regular season game ?!!!

This guy doesn’t have it to start on a regular basis but good for the Eagles to get a ransom for him. It is a testimony to the the state of the current NFL QB level of play.

Yeah kolbs unproven. He’s the only QB in league history to throw for 300 yards in his first two starts. Didn’t he shit all over the 1 seeded falcons last year when Vick got hurt? Yes, he did. Kolb is not very good, but at least you know he’s ready to start. More so than Andy Dalton or Colin Kaepernick.

He’s worth about a 2nd round pick (think Matt Cassel).

Kolb showed decent signs of success as a starter in Philly…but has he shown enough to warrant this kind of attention and reward in a trade? Arizona took a flyer on Derek Anderson and has been burned miserably by it. ( 2 years/ $7.25 million through this season). Why would they give up SO much for another stab at a possible franchise quarterback? Their draft was correct in that they looked to build the defense from back to front. They need to be patient and continue to build brick by brick, and giving up high-profile draft picks is not the solution.

Unless the Cardinals are crazy enough to give us Patrick Peterson, they have nothing I want. Anything less than a 1st round pick or a high quality starter is a lateral move. I’d rather hold on to Kolb for when Vick gets hurt (and he will) than give him away. The Eagles should not be worried about making him or another team happy.

Kolb = 73.2 career passer rating and .428 as a starter, high second round draft pick.

Romo = 95.5 career passer rating and .639 as a starter, undrafted.

Yet PFT thinks that ROMO is the chump that can’t play. Unbelievable.

Darn right Vick is a bad QB. More, he’s a worse person. Not just the dogkilling, either. Knowingly spreading STDs, the false-bottom water bottle @ the airport, flippin’ the bird at a presser when he was in the process of bending Arthur Blank and the Falcons over.. the list goes on & on.

I’d rather keep Kolb, 3 time NFL Offensive Player of the Week, 300 + yards in his first two starts, and a prototypical WCO QB, over Ron Mexico any day.

I don’t understand why these Eagle fans think that Kolb is worth a 5th overall pick in Petersen. Kolb is worth no more than a 3rd round. It is in the Cardinals hands now as most of the competition for Kolb aquired a new QB high in the draft and if the asking price is too high for Kolb, there is always Bulger, McNabb or Palmer.

Im still tryin to understand why Plamer and Kolb are getting so much hype..what have either done really? Espically Kolb..Kolb loooks at best a backup on a very offensivley stout Eagles team, i dont think Arizona or Seattle has more offensive threats than the Eagles do, so how will it get any better? Which brings the question, why is he such a hot commodity for mediocre teams? I think Arizona makes more sense than Seattle. He should just stay as the back up to Vick, if he wants to even think about winning a ring. Regardless the Eagles will never make it, they always get so close and always fall a bit short..lol..keep telling your self a running quaterback is the answer..outside of Steve Young, pocket passers win superbowls..

I don’t know if anybody watched him shred the Falcons last year when Vick was injured and beat them. They just happened to be the #1 seed in the NFC. And also he isn’t injury prone just because Clay Matthews came out of no where from behind him and gave him a concussion. Kolb will be an extremely solid starter compared to some of the terribly overrated QB’s that are in the league. (Sanchize)

As a 49ers fan I truly hope the Cardinals trade for Kolb. Kolb is one of the few QBs in the league that is actually worse than Alexcuses Smith.

I would love for once to be on the other end of a QB abysmally failing to read defenses, bailing from the pocket without pressure and throwing swing passes 10 yards off target.

He’s played in 20 games, with a career qbr of 73.2, 60 percent completion percentage, a little over 200o yards, and more turnovers than tds . 12 tds compared to 19 turnovers. And some team wants to make this guy their franchise QB. LMAO.

If these reports are true, I hope for the sake of Cardinals fans that the Cardinals don’t wind up paying the kind of price that the Bears had to pay to acquire a much more gifted QB in Jay Cutler (like him or hate him, he is a proven Pro-Bowler with a rocket for an arm).

Kolb is the next Matt Cassel… I’m sure a middle of the pack “serviceable” QB (which is much better of course than any options currently on the Cardinals roster or any of the available unrestricted free agent QB’s too), but his “ceiliing” IMO is just slightly about that of Denver veteran QB Kyle Orton.

The real winner will be any team in need of a QB who can convince Brown in Cincinnati that if he doesn’t trade disgruntled starting QB Carson Palmer, he’ll wind up empty handed.

The Cardinals didn’t draft one single O-Lineman this year. Their QBs got destroyed last season.

As a Seahawks fan, I hope the Cardinals trade everything they own for Kolb. He’s never really proven himself and it would hurt the organization for a few years if he flops.

All these people talking up Carson Palmer apparently fail to realize that his arm hasn’t been the same since the elbow injury. He went from having a plus arm to barely being able to throw an out without getting pick-6′d every time.

For the first time in years the team is being managed well.
Some can’t get it through their heads that this isn’t the ‘same ole’ Cards.’
Why a 1st- because Kolb is 1000 times better than DA. We have no legit QB and we play in a retched division where Kolb has enough to get us to the top of the division.
Go without water long enough and you’ll pay more for a cup of water than you ever thought you would.
P.S Fitz and Derek Brooks stated recently that Kolb is the best QB avail…that’s enough for me as a season ticket holder.
Get it done and bring Kolb in.
2012 1st round pick headed to Philly.
You are not getting Peterson so put the pipe down.

I don’t understand why Kolb is viewed in such high esteem. The Cardinals had Kolb 1.0 already and they cut him. Kolb is no better than Leinart. This reminds me of the 90s when Scott Mitchell had a couple good games in relief of Marino. He got hyped just like Kolb and Detroit gave him a big contract. He then started to royally suck. Kolb may be better than what they currently have but he is not even close to being worth a 1st rounder or multiple picks.

Kyle Orton is a better QB with more experience and play time. He’s almost the same age and the asking price will be much less than for Kolb. KO carries a higher salary but with just this year left on his contract, the money issue will only be a one time shot.

Cards would be vault to the top of that division with Kolb behind center. It may take him a few games to get going but look what Cassels has done for KC. They were a non-factor until they got a legit QB>
