If a car is reported stolen the cops stop it regardless of the color of its occupants. They pull their guns out because they want to go home at the end of their shift. Stolen cars are often used by gang members to do drive-by’s and other violent crimes. Cops did nothing wrong and Hines did nothing wrong yet dozens of people have nothing better to do than sit on their computer and cast judgement on other ppl for absolutely no reason!!

nice use of some big words to try to make yourself sound intelligent. There are a lot of modern examples of racism in our society, especially of police harassing black men. but this isn’t one of them. He was in a car that was reported stolen. that’s it that’s the bottom line. it wasn’t because he was black, it’s because the car was reported STOLEN! The police didn’t do anything out of line here. stop trying to find every little excuse to cry racism. there are some things that are definitely examples of racism, this isn’t it. But when you cry racism at every opportunity eventually people stop listening to you.

Hmmm… imagine that. Police doing their job, accused doesn’t get beligerent, situation cleared up, no harm done. Let that be a lesson to those who get indignant when questioned about something. (And a testament to what a class act Mr. Ward is, despite the assertions of Raven and Bengals fans)

Police run probably 500 license plates in the course of an average shift — some cars even have scanning equipment so they don’t have to type the plate numbers into the computer manually. They’re checking to see if the car is properly insured, if the owner has any outstanding warrants or is prohibited from driving, or needs to be served documents of any sort, as well as ensuring the vehicle isn’t reported stolen.

The handcuffs and gunpoint are in no way standard for a driver who has stopped in response to the siren and is otherwise being co-operative. They might handcuff the driver while checking out the story but not otherwise.

For the passenger to be handcuffed, at gunpoint, if he was co-operative, really suggests profiling as the explanation.
