Days after the Buffalo Bills fired personnel man Tom Modrak, the team has made another front office move.

The team announced the promotion of Doug Whaley to Assistant General Manager/Director of Player Personnel, a position in which he’ll report to Executive V.P. and General Manager Buddy Nix.

Whaley joined the Bills in February of 2010. He has 16 years of NFL experience.

In his new capacity, Whaley will oversee both the college and pro personnel departments, conduct the team’s meetings leading up to the draft and scout players.

The team’s announcement said the Bills are continuing to re-evaluate and reorganize the personnel department.

  1. Not sure this guy has what it takes but almost anybody can do better than what Modrack has done for us this past decade.

  2. Whaley is glad Modrack is finally gone. It was hell washing that Suburban every morning.

  3. Luckily Doug’s high school graduation suit still fit for the press conference.

  4. Big shoes to fill. Pick a bust with a top 10 pick every year takes hard work and dedication.

  5. Said then coach of the Steelers Bill Cowher,”Doug is among the brightest minds in the nfl today, and I know he’ll be a fine GM.” All I can say is Tom Brady looks like a reject and the Bills will win the SuperBowl

  6. The Bills are finally on the right path. This is an up and coming football mind, who will replace Buddy Nix when he retires.

  7. I love the timing of it all. They fire Modrak after the ’11 draft so they can blame the ’10 draft debacle on him. If the ’11 draft turns out to be a bust they can say,”thats why we fired the guy!”

    Joke of a franchise

  8. Modrak had no power with this 2011 draft, the proof is with the obvious pick in 1st round, Nix is a old school football guy, gotta trust his judgement with this move
