For Cardinals, two second-round picks may be price for Kevin Kolb

In a sign of how much interest there is in the future of Eagles backup quarterback Kevin Kolb (and how little else is going on in the lockout-plagued NFL), we have another story today speculating on what Philadelphia might fetch in a Kolb trade.

First we had the report that the Dolphins think the Eagles want a first-round pick for Kolb, and that Miami wouldn’t give up that much. And now we have a report about what the Cardinals -- viewed by many as the favorites to land Kolb -- might pay for his services.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic notes that the last time a backup to Michael Vick got traded, it was Matt Schaub moving from Atlanta to Houston. And when that happened, the price was two second-round picks, as well as a flip-flop of the eighth and 10th overall picks in that year’s draft. Somers suggests that the Schaub trade could serve as a template when the Cardinals call the Eagles about Kolb, which they’re expected to do whenever the league year starts.

If they can get Kolb for a pair of second-rounders, the Cardinals would probably be interested. The Schaub deal worked out well for the Texans.
