Reading some of the posting on this site has me wondering if some guys on this site have not understand that there is no cure for stupid, give the guy credit for doing what he feels is the smart thing for himself and his family, who in hell are we to judge his decision for to go for his degree. This is one of the best NFL stories I’ve read this offseason. This is an impressive young man. Do you know how many athletes say they’re gonna go back and do it and never do. This guy did and gave up $250,000 in the process. Some might think that’s crazy, but a few years down the road when he is a free agent, there’s gonna be a lot of GMs who will remember this about him. I’m sure Robert Kraft will certainly remember too. I’m officially now a Ty

A player focused on completing his education.

250K could put a few kids through college. Take the 250K, set up a scholarship for underprivileged kids, and get your degree when you retire. Selfish move from a millionaire, if you ask me.

Hey PFT – Not to sound like a puss but instead of just having a “Turd Watch” why not have a watch for guys like this? Others mentioned that, while it’s awesome he went back and got his degree, Warren is not the only one that has done something good with his spare time. And not just football players.

I know everyone loves a good dumpster fire (I’m waiting for Lindsay Lohan & Charlie Sheen to spawn … now that would be a true Apocalypse Now) but spread some good stuff around. Really.

I have listened to many interviews with Ty Warren and he is a real “man”. It is clear he is devoted to his wife and children and it is also apparent that he is of strong character and integrity. He made a promise to his mother that he would get his degree after he was drafted out of college. He is a man of his word and he makes it real easy to root for him.

I really can’t say it was smart to throw away 250K just to attend classes, I’m pretty sure that much cash would’ve paid for the classes and then some.

Normally, I wouldn’t do it, but as long as you’re talking about school…. people may have ‘inferred’ something by his behavior, but on this board they would have ‘implied.’
