As if Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb’s refusal to discuss whether he refused to wear a wristband didn’t serve as confirmation of The Sports Junkies’ report that he did, Redskins quarterback Rex Grossman made it even more clear during his Wednesday interview on ESPN 980, as transcribed by John Keim.

“Obviously Donovan didn’t like it. He didn’t want to do it,” Grossman said. “I’m not sure that was a major issue. I’m not sure that was a big problem between him and the coaching staff.”

So does it mean McNabb refused to wear a wristband? “I know he told me he doesn’t like to do that,” Grossman said. “I don’t know their discussions or what they asked him to do. If they asked him and he outright refused it, that’s an issue. But I don’t know any of that first-hand.”

And Grossman wouldn’t know if Mike and Kyle Shanahan asked McNabb to wear a wristband because, as Grossman later explained, “They kept everything behind closed doors” when it came to the issues between McNabb and the father-son coach-coordinator combo.

Bottom line? The report was right on the money, and it’s further proof that McNabb won’t be getting any more of it from the Redskins.
