Reggie Bush caused a stir when he expressed on Twitter and Facebook that he was having a good time relaxing during the lockout. Fans pounced on Bush, who quickly said he had just been joking.

And now other players are hesitant to admit that they, too, are enjoying some time off.

The Tennessean has a story today about how Titans players are handling the lockout, and every one of them seems to be bending over backward not to sound like he is actually enjoying the work stoppage.

“Two weekends ago, my parents had a surprise 50th birthday party because both of them turned 50 in the month of April,” Titans quarterback Rusty Smith said. “I was able to go home for that and surprise them. If we were having OTAs, I wouldn’t have been able to do that, so it was nice.”

But Smith quickly added, “I don’t want to sound like I’m happy that the lockout is still going because I’m not. I want to go to work and I want to work.”

Although a handful of players, like Buffalo’s Stevie Johnson, have openly admitted to enjoying the lockout, the majority seem to have learned from Bush that fans aren’t too receptive to such comments from players.

Still, one would hope that fans understand that players are human, and that it’s OK for a player to be glad he could celebrate his parents’ 50th birthday.
