Coughlin says Giants haven’t discussed Burress

Tom Coughlin AP

Could Plaxico Burress return to the Giants?   It depends on who you listen to.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin, appearing on NFL Live Thursday, didn’t give away much.

“That really hasn’t been discussed by any of us.  That will have to remain to be seen,” Coughlin told ESPN’s Michael Smith.

Jay Glazer of FOX tells a slightly different story when asked on Twitter whether the Giants would consider bringing Burress back.

“[Tom Coughlin] no but front office intrigued,” Glazer writes.

New York doesn’t have a huge need at receiver.  Taking Burress back would have to be something the entire organization was on board with. Ownership has a fondness for Burress, but it’s hard to imagine a reunion unless Coughlin wants it.

There are teams out there that have a greater need at the position than New York.

If he takes the minimum, he’s a good value. Other than that, they don’t need him that badly and his age/physicality is too great a risk. Now if Al Davis was discussing him on the other hand…

Plax needs a fresh start and should not be in NYC. Wish him all the best, but his run with the G-Men is a thing of the past.

From Locked up, to locked out… It’d be funny if he got out of jail and there were no season.

Plax needs to be in a no license to carry state.

as a Giants fan, i would love to have Plax back!!!

we can keep Nicks @ #2 wr and move Steve Smith to the slot, where he does the most damage.

I’m sure this is the usual “you can tell he’s lying because his mouth is moving”, but if the Giants truly haven’t even discussed this, I’ll take them for third in the division based on lack of preparation alone.

i’ll take him back on the gmen—-we need depth especially with smith’s knee recovery

If he’s still got it and comes back contrite, it’s a no-brainer. The Giants WRs are all very young still and can learn a lot from him. He instantly opens up the running game too. One year deal, no risk. BRING BACK PLAX!

    He will be a Redskin.

THE GIANTS ALREADY HAVE A PLAX REPLACEMET, RAMSES BARDEN 6’6 WR.
THE PROBLEM IS COUGHLIN, WHO STILL BELIEVES, YOU SIT FOR 3 YRS. BEFORE YOU PLAY? PLAX AT 34 IS NOT WORTH ZIP, MAYBE IN SEATTLE, OR DENVER, BUT NOT IN CIRCUS TOWN WITH TOM.

As an Eagles Fan, I’ve heard some fans asking for Plexico. Would give the Eagles a large bodied w/r for Vick and a target for his, “Bail Out Plays,” taking the vulnerability away from Jackson and Macklin. What do I know? I’d like to see a remorseful TO, coming back and doing for us, what Moss did for the Patriots! What’s a year or two of an inexpensive contract with built in safeguards? Contract latitudes, don’t deminish his potential and it is the dues he must pay for his past actions…

    @tombradyswig

By “choking” do you mean beating the Patriots in the superbowl?

I’m “on board” with it! Buress has shown he can produce, he probably would take a pay cut, in order to go back to a familiar system/environment.

I think he should be resigned, especially after the performance from the recieving corp last year. Sign him to a 1 yr contract

Jay Glazer’s tweet involving my question to him on PFT!!!
