Introducing the Hard Knocks poll

HardKnocksGetty Getty Images

While listening to Rich Eisen and Dan Patrick during the final hour of Friday’s aptly-named Dan Patrick Show, I experienced a rare moment of inspiration.  Of course, the inspiration originated with Eisen and Patrick, but if we can copy-and-paste stories, then we can copy-and-paste inspiration, too.

They were discussing various teams that could be candidates for this year’s edition of Hard Knocks, assuming that the lockout actually ends in time for Hard Knocks to be filmed — and assuming that the world doesn’t end, as scheduled, tomorrow.

So we decided, borrowing from the EA/ESPN Madden 12 cover tourney inspiration, to launch a series of polls to determine the team that PFT Planet wants to see on the show.  We’ll do one for each division, then we’ll do one for the division winners in each conference, then we’ll pit the AFC and NFC winner against each other.

First up, NFC East.  Have at it.

    none of the above?

  2. richm2256 says: May 20, 2011 1:50 PM

Gotta pick the Redskins …… man, you just HAVE to see the behind-the-scenes of that trainwreck!

  3. hobartbaker says: May 20, 2011 1:51 PM

Any team from the Lingerie League in a Hard Knockers segment.

  4. dexterismyhero says: May 20, 2011 1:56 PM

Maybe Dallas if it were the Cheerleaders. They could call it Hard Knockers!!!!

  5. truninerfan49 says: May 20, 2011 2:01 PM

I would vomit if it was the Eagles. Every show would just be how great of a guy michael vick is and how he has changed.

  6. thephantomstranger says: May 20, 2011 2:04 PM

I’ve got to see that John Beck-Rex Grossman training camp battle!

  7. *Legion* says: May 20, 2011 2:06 PM

This isn’t even a contest. It’s Redskins dysfunctionality for the win.

That is, unless you could guarantee cameos by Andy Reid’s Clausen-faced jailbird offspring. Then I vote Philly.

  8. blacktoothgrinn says: May 20, 2011 2:10 PM

Does there really need to be a 3rd season of the Cowboys? Redskins drama would be so much more entertaining

  9. DonRSD says: May 20, 2011 2:12 PM

i voted the eagles so i can watch them disintegrate

    GO BIG BLUE!!!

  10. benh999 says: May 20, 2011 2:15 PM

How about none? I like reading NFL news, re-watching classic games, etc., but watching training camp is just boring. That the teams who opt for being featured are usually among the more obnoxious to begin with nor that they play to the camera makes it even less appealing.

    NY JETS AGAIN!!!

you can hate the jets.. but i know you watched every episode

  12. canadianvikingfaniii says: May 20, 2011 2:26 PM

The Giants and Eagles don’t seem like very drama filled teams. I’m tired of hearing about the Cowboys and they already had their shot. I guess I’ll choose the Redskins, seeing as they are the mess of the division.

  13. shackdelrio says: May 20, 2011 2:31 PM

The Redskins would be a better team for 2012 after they go 1-15 and draft Andrew Luck.

  14. waka1waka says: May 20, 2011 2:31 PM

Hey trueninerfan- Very fresh Vick take…not stale and lame at all.

How isn’t Washington cleaning everyone’s clock?

They aren’t asking who your favorite team is, just the one that would make for the most compelling TV. Washinton is filled with such foolishness it’s not even close… The owner is sueing journalist because they give him bad press. The team has a horrible record, yet makes a ton of cash off idiot fans. The coach hired his son to run the offense, cause… Well, it’s his son.

There are so many character and each more desperate and foolish as the next. Only the vikes could compete against this soap opera.

Coughlin’s face, up-close in HD with various kinds of lighting. Isn’t he one of the heroes in the new Green Lantern movie?

    vs.

Keith Brooking going room-to-room waking everyone up early to give them a pep talk about their day off at the movies and “putting it all on the line”.

    vs.

Andy Reid eating Rex Ryan under the table.

    vs.

A whole lot of scenes of a shut door with sound turned off.

I picked the Giants but an HBO reality series about Andy Reid’s sons would be more entertaining.

I picked the Eagles, mainly because it’d be interesting to see how HBO handled Vick but think the Redskins are an intriguing possibility (Shannahan would never go for it though).

  18. winkeroni says: May 20, 2011 3:01 PM

I would definitely want to watch the Redskins. Maybe it would give us some insight as to why Dan “the Man” Snyder does the things he does.

  19. bigdan7885 says: May 20, 2011 3:46 PM

As a Giants fan, I picked the Redskins for all the reasons people already commented on.

    RIP Macho Man

  20. hank10 says: May 20, 2011 3:55 PM

Eagles would never give access. King Andy and the rest of Fortress Novacare gives up zero information at post-game news conferences and they rarely allow coordinators or assistant coaches to speak with media.

If you want to watch nothing but one-word dialgoue and a whole lot of ‘times yours’ be my guest.

  21. skins3yearplan says: May 20, 2011 4:15 PM

Redskins for sure! I simply HAVE to see how Chris Cooley will convince various players to make clay pots to sell in his new pottery store in downtown Leesburg, VA.

  22. pylonprophet says: May 20, 2011 4:41 PM

It would be fantastic to witness the dysfunction that is the Washington Redskins. That would be great.

  23. wvugrad00 says: May 20, 2011 4:55 PM

where is the “anyone but my team” selection?

I had to vote for the Redskins, just to see how disfunctional that would be. Even though I get a little insite living in Northern VA

  24. trigdaddy says: May 20, 2011 5:13 PM

Kind of want to wait to see what happens with McNabb. Redskins camp would be much more interesting if he were there.

  25. norcaleagles says: May 20, 2011 9:38 PM

DONRSD, If you’d like to see a team “disintegrate”, just flip on the tape from the Eagles-giants 2nd meeting last season. To save yourself some time, just skip to about the 8 minute mark of the 4th quarter, K? And why would the skins even need Hardknocks to air their dirty laundry? Shanahan did a nice job doing that last season.

  26. walterredskins says: May 20, 2011 11:06 PM

    @goombar2
Stupid fans huh? So you just expect us to stop loving our team because of something we can’t control??? We all love the burgundy and gold. We’re loyal, not stupid…

  27. goombar2 says: May 21, 2011 2:57 AM

There’s loyal and then there’s lining the pockets of a sleaze bag that continuously screws fans over to line his own pockets while he puts out a crappy product.

If you keep buying a crappy product and encouraging Danny Boy, at the end of the day the fans are just as culpable.

If the only way to be a fan is to be a lemming because there’s no other possible way Washington fans can think of a way to fight back… Well, I just can’t think you guys are too smart.

Take the profit out of it for Snyder and make him straighten up his act or sell and I bet you get a better product. Funny how people in Washington DC think accountability is a dirty word. Must be something in the water.

    __________

So you’re expecting us to be a bandwagon fan? I think the product is getting better and that he’s learned from his mistakes. The Redskins had a great draft and a good beginning part of FA when they got Atogwe. Expect them to be aggressive in free agency whenever it starts. I know the Redskins have been terrible to watch but they’re my team and I’m going to support them through the bad and good.
