23-year-old NFL hopeful Nick Schrank of Centreville, Virginia appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for the program’s “Does This Thrill Bill?” segment on Wednesday night.
Bill is William Shatner. And Schrank successfully thrilled him with a standing jump onto a medicine ball positioned atop a 40-inch bridge.
Here’s a link to the trick.
Schrank played linebacker and defensive line at George Mason, which faced D-2 opponents but is characterized as club-level football.
He is 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, and runs in the 4.7s with a 33-inch vertical leap.
“I’m relentless,” Schrank told PFT when discussing his uphill climb toward the NFL. “I’ll stop at nothing. If I have to go on The Tonight Show and clap my hands like a seal, I’ll do it.”
So Schrank has won over Bill Shatner.
Next up, an NFL team.

well if shatner was thrilled, george takei would have proposed to him on the spot.
C’mon Bill, get him some work in the movies!

Just to do a mild correction, Nick played at Radford University after transferring from George Mason, where he did play as well, but he finished up at RU.
Thank you for updating us on D2 football dork.
He’s doing it wrong, all you have to do is record yourself jumping out of a pool. Worked great for Jarron Gilbert (who has a whopping 2 tackles in two years in the NFL).
Pretty cool jump – nice start to the day. Now to go dig out a copy of “The Replacements”….
Sounds like a candidate for the CFL or UFL.

Isn’t that 2 more than you have?
Shatner: “Woo, Woo, Wooo”. I dont see what this does to help you get into the nfl. Its like me proving i can sit in the “pro athlete tub full of ice cubes” by jumping off a bridge into freezing water.
That’s awesome. I played club ball at Mason 15 yeas ago under the understanding that we were finally getting a real program very shortly. It’s nice to see a fellow GMU player getting some attention. I don’t like his chances of making it to the NFL, but they’ve got to be tons better than mine.
