The other families don't have a problem with Schuyler. Why? Because they're normal. This Cooper fella has no identity other than through his son. By keeping his silliness going, he keeps his son alive.

Heck, Cooper has blamed the Coast Guard too... This guy just walks around blaming folks at random for his son's death.

It was a sudden accident and I feel for his loss, but he doesn't have the right to defame folks.

There is no "Mentalist" conspiracy here. There is no murder. And PFT should take a little responsibility here giving Mr. Cooper a platform for his craziness without offering proof of what he's saying.

snipe hunt, not skipe hunt.

schuyler's condition was probly brought under control pretty quickly.

the father cant stand that maybe his son did anything wrong. more ghost-chasing.

people need to be realistic. i know someone whose son just died in a canoeing accident. the kid took a lot of risks. his dad knew about it, and doesnt seem to be blaming everyone else in the world or looking for a scapegoat.

Because of Nick's (Schuyler) physical condition -- the 24-year-old was dehydrated and showed signs of hypothermia, but he was upgraded from serious to fair condition Tuesday -- the Coast Guard was unable to give a full account of what happened.

Dr. Mark Rumbak said the 24-year-old was in good condition but will remain in intensive care in case there are complications. Schuyler probably could have lived only another five to 10 hours, Rumbak said.

Schuyler's temp was 89 degrees when they pulled him out.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like a guy in the water to me... How great a boater was Cooper?

------------------------------------------------------------------
Marquis Cooper was an avid fisherman. When he played at Washington, he considered majoring in marine biology -- until he looked at the math requirements.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Could his lack of math skill lead to his failure to understand his anchor situation and what would happen? Very Probable.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

So what does Bruce claim?

----------------------------------------------------------
Reports would come out that Marquis simply gave up. Bruce Cooper says his son would never do that. His 26-year-old son, he says, would fight to the end to survive.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Under his right mind that's probably true... But under his medical condition? He probably went mad. It is completely consistant with hypothermia.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

To the folks that think what Bruce Cooper is doing is just fine and a proper form of mourning? Well, keep in mind his wife has tried to commit suicide while he's been busy on this skipe hunt for blame. This skipe hunt is also most likely going to lead to Schuyler's publisher to file lawsuits of defamation against Cooper, which there have been threats of.

They proper way to mourn your son and his memory is to not notice the depression of your wife and almost lose her to suicide and get sued into bankruptcy? Wow! Some folks here just don't have a clue.

I just wanted to make sure everyone realizes this book came out a year and three months ago. I had no idea. I don't remember any publicity push at all. Cooper in the video just looked like he flew off the handle (possibly after a drink or two) to a local reporter who then ran with the story.

I'd cut him some slack and cut Schuyler the same for being mostly low profile since the accident.

All Cooper did here was sell more copies of a book most people didn't realize was even published.

@edgerinn: To understand Cooper's position, you have to research this entire matter starting two years ago. There were many people - and experts - outside the families of the victims who questioned the survivor's account. The oars normally lashed down inside the boat were missing as well. Another point is the survivor said in his media interviews that his hypothermia made his recollection vague and insconsistent. Really? How, then, is he able to write a detailed book two years later when he couldn't recall many fact facts two weeks or two months later? The rumors doubting the victims insocsistent story persisted to this day - and thus the reason for the book is to clear his own name.

Unless you've lost a kid, you have no idea what it feels like or how long it would take to grieve losing a kid

Unless you have a kid, you can't even begin to imagine what it would feel like to lose one.

And he's right, a lot of Schulyers story was complete horse crap

I don't have a problem with him writing a book about it, there are plenty of people who would have liked to hear the entire story. But how much of the money he is making off the book is he giving tot he victims family? If Schuyler isn't giving each family as much as the profits as he is making then I think the other parents have every right to speak out against him.

Some of you people are seriously troubled in the head. This father has every right to question this story. If someone is using and exaggerating and falsifying the story of your son's death in a selfish attempt to profit, you are more than welcome to call that person out.

He would not be given the chance to write this book had Cooper and Corey Smith's deaths not made this story national news. Writing a book about the story, and exaggerating or lying about the events is a pitiful attempt to profit from his friends deaths. I applaud Mr. Cooper for saying something

The survivor's story wasn't credible to many two years ago, either. His story kept changing to put himself in the best possible light. He conducted no media interviews for weeks after his rescue. He made up his explanation as he went along, while using hypothermia as an excuse for his many inconsistencies. Supposedly, the three friends were supposed to rotate sitting on top of the hull to get out of the cold water. The alternative theory is that once the survivor got on top of the hull, he refused to give up his position and the other two became too weak to climb out of the water - and expired. There was no evidence to either prove or disprove the survivors account, but his story was that the other two gave up their fight to live while he alone had the strength to survive. Very doubtful.

My point is that I don't think its grieving. I believe he is BLAMING the survivor. He also says he "knows for fact" he isn't telling the truth.

Well if he "KNOWS FOR FACT" that the survivor is lying, then he needs to spell it out exactly what he knows, and how he knows it, or leave that kid alone.

Those of you trying to lend credence to Cooper should watch what his actual issues are. He's questioning, among other things, whether Schuyler was even at sea for three days.

The reason he doesn't want to believe the story is largely because Schuyler said that Marquis Cooper is the person who accidentally capsized the boat. He doesn't have any evidence to contradict anything Schuyler said, other than he doesn't want to believe it.

How is it shady for Schuyler to write a book about what happened?
