Garrett Wolfe arrested in Miami

Oakland Raiders v Chicago Bears Getty Images

Eventual free-agent running back Garrett Wolfe, who has spent four years with the Bears, was born on August 17, 1984.

Earlier today, a person named Garrett Wolfe — born on the same day — was arrested on multiple charges in Miami Beach.

The Garrett Wolfe who plays pro football is listed at 5’7″ and 185 pounds.  The Garrett Wolfe who was arrested in Miami is listed at 5’9″ and 200 pounds.

Wolfe faces charges of retail theft, disorderly conduct, assault of a police officer, and resisting arrest with violence.

According to online records, Wolfe is currently jailed on total bond of $11,500.

The Garrett Wolfe who plays football did not receive a restricted free agency tender from the Bears.  Thus, whenever football starts up again, he’ll be an unrestricted free agent.

Until there’s 100-percent confirmation that the Garrett Wolfe with a August 17, 1984 date of birth is the same Garrett Wolfe with an August 17, 1984 date of birth who plays pro football, we’ll leave the days without an arrest meter as is, and we’ll hold off on updating the police blotter.

We’ve got a feeling that, in fairly short order, we’ll be able to make those changes.  Indeed, the person who tipped us off to the arrest says it’s the same guy.

But if there are two guys living in the United States with the name Garrett Wolfe born on the exact same day, that would be a far more interesting story.

UPDATE:  NFLPA records (pre-decertification) indicate that Wolfe is represented by Rick Smith.  We’ve called and texted Smith in search of confirmation that there aren’t two Garrett Wolfes born on the same day.  Also, Wolfe’s Twitter page suggests that he arrived in Miami on Saturday.  Jon Greenberg of ESPNChicago.com reports via Twitter that he and Wolfe were on the same flight to Miami.

SECOND UPDATE:  Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that it’s indeed the same guy.  Time to reset the meter and update the blotter.

When are these players going to stop getting arrested during this lockout. Stop doing dumb stuff. Every player should be training out at a local gym or be doing some conditioning drills or something to get ready for the upcomming season. Can they please get this lockout over with.

Another “partner” of the league out doing what the “partners” do best.
While owners are busy trying to negotiate, DEmo the pimps and his band of hoodlums are embaressing the league yet AGAIN

Society needs to be protected from these “partners” that obviously were not taught/raised properly. It seems all these pants on the ground wearing, non bill paying, “slave master” hating, Bin Laden loving, woman beating hoodlums were raised by Aquib Talib’s momma.

These “partners” embarress the league on a daily basis and think they deserve over 50% ??

I’m sure this is a big mistake by overzelous cops who “racially profiled” him.

    YEA RIGHT

    Translation:

He and Dez Bryant were at the mall when each picked out and tried on several outfits and jewelry.

Dez and Garrett both proceeded to leave the mall while wearing their pants on the ground with tags still attached and unpaid for. Each also had tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid bling around their neck and in their hands.

After security asked them if they were going to pay for the items, Dez responded ” We ain’t paying for jack! Do you knows who we are homie?. Sue us !!!!
They then attempted to run, but did not get far due to one hand being full of unpaid bling while the other hand was trying to hold up their pants.

Dez then snitched on Garrett and said it was all his fault and was released.

Who knows if it is the same guy. Football players usually lie about their height and weight to make themselves look bigger.

  11. jo3jo says: May 22, 2011 12:23 PM

If I’m the Bears, despite the arrest, I gotta be happy that this undersized RB not only bulked up by 15 pounds in the offseason, but found a way to get taller too. The magic of HGH I guess.

    Seriously, I had no idea.

The altercation began when two men both named Garrett Wolfe got into a dispute over a door prize. The larger Garrett Wolfe was able to wrestle it away leaving the smaller Garrett Wolfe enraged and frustrated.

iamtalkingsolistenandlearn you are the most idiotic and racist individual I’ve seen on here in a while. You have no clue how the players were raised or rather they pay bills or beat women. You are just basing your thoughts on stereotypes that keeps fueling the racism fire in this country and in this world. You and your fellow racists “partners” are the only one who is doing racial profiling. Grow up and get a life you pathetic piece of racist trash. There are players in the NFL who are outstanding individuals and who helps those in need and all those other great things. Stop grouping them with those who live not so outstanding lives.

  20. georgeanderson2 says: May 22, 2011 1:43 PM

Can the worst Commish of all time take any actions against any of these guys for anything they do during this lockout? They are not employees of the league right now.
How many guys do you think are taking this time to get their body right by using banned substances?

to bad he never showed any of this aggressiveness on the field during his time with the bears. and make no mistake the midget was a complete waste of a roster spot for the bears and should/will be cut as soon as lockout ends.

The charge of assaulting a police officer often means causing an injury to the police officer’s hand while he’s beating you.

  31. purdueman says: May 22, 2011 3:40 PM

I was dumbfounded when the Bears burned a 3rd round pick on a midget (by NLF standards in Wolfe). and passed on taking RB Bush from Louisville (who went to the Raiders not too far afterwards near the top of the 4th round).

Anyone know why some threads (usually on this forum), can never be directly linked via a reply to the people who post their comments?

So this comment addresses a couple of items in this thread. “No one cares about Wolfe… either of them”; while I share your sentiment, that’s likely not totally true because I’m sure their Mama’s do! (LOL!)

The Bears have tried over the past four years to save face by claiming that Wolfe was “a valuable member of special teams”, but I never bought it.

Look for a big shift in emphasis too on special teamers whenever the next season starts because the NFL (No Fun League), in their infinite wisdom has robbed us fans of one of the most exciting plays in football… the kickoff, by moving up the kick off by 5 yards “in the name of player safety”.

No doubt we will now see record breaking numbers of kickoff touchbacks, and than in turn will lesson the need to find guys who excel at special teams.

Wolfe was gone anyways though, because of the RB that the Bears took in last years supplemental draft from BYU (who got kicked out of BYU and off the team despite being their best offensive player for getting his girl friend pregnant).

    Wolfe? He gone!

In my opinion, it’s very naive of the part of any of you who DON’T think that many police and police departments profile.

First of all, there’s the intimidation and jealosy factors when a cop spots a “chiseled”, likely well dressed athletes who oftentimes are flashing a lot of “bling”.

Second of all (and MOST importantly), it’s the perception on the part of the cops as to who they can likely railroad and get an “attaboy” when the people the bust look like they may not be able to afford a good attorney.

The greater the charges that stick, the more revenue that these cops generate (as court fees, fines and restitution escalate when a defendant can’t afford anything more than a public defender to plea bargain the charges down or get bogus police reports and/or evidence thrown out).

Here’s something that you likely don’t know. The US Supreme Court in a landmark ruling a few years ago ruled that it is legal for police to lie and falsify police reports in an attempt to get a confession and/or more evidence.

My son was busted for possession of a deadly weapon (the fishing knife in his tackle box that was at the time locked in the trunk), as well as possession of 26 grams of marijuana (all he had in the car was a broken glass pipe that had a little residue in it).

The DA asked for three years in jail, but once we hired a competent attorney, my son got 10 days of community service after which his “crime” would be adjudicated.

As we’ve ALL seen with both the OJ and Kobe felonies, unfortunately our “justice system” can indeed be bought, whereas many of the poor minorities who commit misdemeanors get railroaded because they can’t afford a real attorney.

First, a big thank you to “indywilson40″ for making the ‘you’re’ correction. Some posters cannot write an English sentence, nor can they spell s**t. It’s really not fun to attempt to read these posts, when no one can make heads nor tails out of the ideas.
By the way, who is this Wolfe person? I’ve never heard of him AND he must be extremely small, because I’ve never seen him run with the ball, either.
