They did during the brief period the lockout was lifted, although it’s not as simple as it seems. There’s isn’t one playbook, but a series of positional playbooks.

I suppose if teams were smart, they would just lay off all the coaches, have them become private contractors, then rehire them when the lockout ends. All’s fair in love and labor practice, apparently.
