Packers to get Super Bowl rings on June 16

Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Ring AP

Contact between players and NFL personnel is not allowed during the lockout, except for special cases like Tony Romo’s wedding.  Or the Packers’ ring ceremony.

The Packers announced Thursday that the ceremony will take place at the Lambeau Field Atrium on June 16.  The NFL granted a special exemption for the team to get back together for the first time since the Super Bowl.

“We’re looking forward to having an evening for the players, coaches and organization to recognize the victory in Super Bowl XLV,” Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said.

We highly doubt any lingering awkwardness from the work stoppage will carry over into the private event. A championship ring is a powerful drug, and it’s a lot more permanent than this lockout.

It’s all about the RING! Hey, any idea what the rings look like yet? Any preview pics?

How will all the owners be able to fit into the Atrium to get their rings?

I remember a few Saints fans posting the same thing. Just sayin…

Do they sell tickets to the ceremony? It might be nice for the Vikings fans to actually be able to see a Superbowl ring in their lifetime.

Didn’t Packer fans say same thing in 95-96? Hopefully it rains, lightnings and tornados warnings are issued that day!

Hey, for once Contra, you posted something funny and with a ring of truth. (No pun.)

Also, rumor has it the Packers are going to have security on hand to keep Rex Ryan from collecting his team’s Super Bowl bling.

“How will all the owners be able to fit into the Atrium to get their rings?”

I’m not sure how many stockholders (owners) the Packers have, but I’m quite sure at least 75% of them could fit ihto the atrium. If you’re a packer fan and have never been to Lambeau, that trip needs to be on your bucket list. The best football venue in the NFL, irrecpective of what Jerry Jones thinks.

They sure earned them. They persevered, believed in themselves as part of a team, and played together as a team. It was a great season to watch the Pack.

I live in Chicago. Can I get an NFC Championship ring, LOL?

    ________

Something vikes will never have to worry about.

Super Bowl, Homeboy. With how many (15?) starters on IR and the loss of two key defensive players in the Super Bowl. Plus, Super Bowl MVP (runner-up) Jordy Nelson should be stepping up his game, JerMichael Finweeeeeee is back. I gotta say, I like our chances.

It’s good to see everybody putting aside the labor dispute to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2010 season. They worked for it, they earned it, let them enjoy it.

Maybe Jerry Jones should go and see how non-interfering owners help their team as opposed to his style.

    Cowboys fan :(

  18. santolonius says: May 27, 2011 8:45 AM

how can they have a ring ceremony in the middle of a lockout?? it is stupid. it is unseemly. it is like asking your wife out to an aniversary dinner from your divorce lawyer’s office.

  19. shaggytoodle says: May 27, 2011 2:07 PM

    @santolonius

Its more like getting together to have a birthday party for one of your kids.

You can’t just punish them cause the parents are seperated.

Besides there was no lockout is for next season and this is the final motion of last season.

  20. packerbacker12 says: May 27, 2011 9:22 PM

It’s about time. It was a joke it took this long for the NFL to let the Packers celebrate their Super Bowl win.

  21. packerbacker12 says: May 27, 2011 9:27 PM

“Didn’t Packer fans say same thing in 95-96? Hopefully it rains, lightnings and tornados warnings are issued that day!”

Even if it does rain, lightning, and tornadoes touchdown that day, the Packers will still be Super Bowl champions. So your logic is basically irrelevant, just like the Viking fanbase.

“Another reminder that the Packers won the Super Bowl…. feels good to be on top bitches.”

    You’ve got that right.
