Sanchez says Jets can keep all three free agent receivers

The New York Jets will have three free agent receivers -- Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes and Brad Smith -- whenever free agency starts. Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez believes the Jets can keep them all.

“I honestly do,” Sanchez said on NFL Network. “I think that’s what Mike Tannenbaum does best and he’s the best GM in football. Mr. [Woody] Johnson, that’s part of his job. And Rex [Ryan], that’s keeping all of us together. He wants the offense to run smooth, he wants us to pick up where we left off and to do that, we need all of our guys back. I think that would be the best-case scenario.”

Realistically, it doesn’t seem likely that Sanchez will get his wish. In fact, the Jets are probably more likely to lose two of the three than none of the three. The fact that the Jets drafted two wide receivers and are reportedly kicking around the idea of signing Randy Moss indicates that they don’t think their receiving corps will remain intact.

But Sanchez feels confident enough about who his teammates will be in 2011 that he’s already begun installing the offense at his Jets West camp.

“[I had] one of my playbooks from last season that I just hung on to, and I have all of my notes in there,” Sanchez said. “Made photocopies of it, gave it to the guys that were there. My high school coach Bob Johnson was nice enough to facilitate the entire event, from the field to the classroom to go over film from my computer that I’ve had for a year now with all of the film from the first two seasons. … Just installed everything. We did it five days in a row so we wanted to make sure that guys got the right amount of work in, we get in the film room, we install the plays.”

Sanchez also said he expects to organize a full-team workout “some time next month.” Even though he doesn’t know at the moment what constitutes the Jets’ full team.
