A look at the Madden ’12 cover

Peyton Hillis only finished eleventh in rushing yards last season, but he came in first in the hearts of fans voting on the Madden ’12 cover earlier this offseason.

One month after Hillis was announced as cover boy, we can get a look at how the game will look, courtesy of Chris Littman of the Sporting News.

Some may say this barely qualifies as news, but we know there are plenty of Madden enthusiasts (like the Florios) that are interested.

Plus we’ve got at least a few hours until the next Albert Haynesworth legal development.

It’s hard not to like Peyton Hillis. The guy is a beast and a true throwback to the good ol’ days of smash mouth football. I hope he can keep up his style of play, because it fits Cleveland perfectly.

Gotta love that facemask. Can’t wait to see the JuggerHillis this season. Hide yo’ kids. Hide yo’ wife. Hide yo’ husband. ‘Cause Peyton Hillis runnin’ o’er everybody out here!

I have no problem with the cover. I do have a problem with the EA Sports being uninspired and lazy. Nothing has really changed in 8 years.

So which combination of buttons do you push to hurdle over would-be tacklers?

Good for him for landing the cover… But I have the feeling that he is there mainly because so many people voted against their guy to avoid the “curse”. I know here in Detroit they tried to get Suh voted down (worked) then tried to get Aaron Rodgers voted in (Almost worked). The main reason he is on the cover is that… And the anti Vick voters

EA claims to have made major changes to the game for 2012. Many of these changes were made based on user feedback. Improved animations and an overhaul to Franchise mode…

Have to say I liked the picture they showed the day they announced he had won over Vick better.

I hear EA spent millions making it SO TRUE to the game that this season the game itself will not load onto your console if the lockout is still in place.

What button makes him hurdle and fumble in mid-air like in the Bills game?

Well, he stands a good a chance of beating the curse if the two sides don’t extricate their collective heads from collective rectums.

Trailer park residents are in Hillisbilly Heaven.

There is no way in the world that I believe that this guy actually won the contest. Rigged.

Madden 12 is the first Madden game to use Kinect too. So people will actually get a workout playing.

I dont care what they do to improve the game. This franchise has screwed me over far too many times in the past for me to want to risk another $60 disappointment. I will not buy another football game until the NFL gives licensure to another competing developor. I suspect that is when you may see some actual improvement with the Madden franchise since they will finally have some incentive to make a better/different game from year to year instead of just polishing the same old turd over and over.

    Thats freakin funny right there…

Should have put Goodell and D smith on the cover and called it the “Lockout” Edition. Where you can either be an owner or a player deciding the next litigation or lockout move you will make. If it’s in the game it’s in the game (even if there is no game.).

@Matt – what fits Cleveland perfectly is losing. It is the single hardest thing to stop doing in professional sports.

Glad Hillis is on the cover. Just about gaurantees my Ravens crush the Browns twice this year.

no changes in the last decade? did you guys not play 11? they changed all of the audibles, changed the kicking, the hit stick, no sprint button and have really just dumbed down the version. i hope 12 goes back the way 10 was but just improves upon the gameplay and visual aspects of the game. i don’t know a single person that liked madden 11 better than 10.

I hear they’re making a Special Edition: Lock-out cover. It’s like the one from a few years ago with both Polamalu and Larry Fitz on the cover, except now on one side it’s De Smith in his little bowler hat, and on the other side is Peyton Hillis sitting in a La-Z-Boy eating a bag of cheetos.

Please stop recycling the same jokes about the lockout.

  22. audient says: May 31, 2011 5:19 PM

I heard there is going to be a lockout edition. waka waka waka.

I’d have voted for Rush Limbaugh over Michael Vick. Ugh.

Wow what a great cover! Can’t think of a better person / player to grace the cover. Hillis is a Monster and will continue to steamroll the competition in 2011/12. Steelers fans remember what happened when that Polomalu chick tried to tackle him one on one. Go Browns.
