The following year Norv’s Bolts again won a playoff game, beating the Colts in Indy.

I would argue that Norv’s first two seasons were more successful than any season Marty had in San Diego.

However…the early playoff exit in 2009 put Norv on Marty’s level and last year’s underachieving performance did make me pine for Marty again.

I’d put Merriman’s knee injury in that top 4. He had 17 sacks in 12 games after the suspension. The following year he had 10.5 sacks in 14 games until that injury. Since then? 6 sacks in 3+ years. This has been the problem with the defense. Great stats, but no playmaker, thus making the defense exploitable at times.

But certainly, that 2006 loss to NE was the worse. Dominated the first half and then found every conceivable way to keep giving the ball back to NE:
