As a Pats fan, the Tom Brady to McCree interception followed by the Troy Brown strip and fumble recovery is one of my best football memories that doesn't involve Adam Vinatieri. What made it even more special was when NFL Films showed the clip of Marty, at the beginning of THAT game, say: "Remember, when you make the interception to win the game go straight to the ground, don't try to return it" (or something to that effect).

The guy was a modern day Cassandra, poor bastard.

LightningLucci summed it up perfectly:
-----------------------------------------------------
But certainly, that 2006 loss to NE was the worse. Dominated the first half and then found every conceivable way to keep giving the ball back to NE:

1. Two dropped third down passes – Parker.
2. Fumbled punt – Parker.
3. Defensive personal foul (head-butt) on a failed NE third down – Florence.
4. The INT-fumble – McCree.

All in the second half. Arggh. Yes, if the pain still hurts, then it’s a worst moment.
----------------------------------------------------------
The McCree fumble and it's ramifications, though going 1-15 was pretty damn bad.

As bad as the loss was in their only SuperBowl appearance, one must remember that they played against one of the best SuperBowl teams of all time.

Check Steve Young's stats (70 percent completion, 35 TDs, 10 INTs, 8.6 yards per attempt, 112.8 QB rating, 7 rushing TDs, 6 TD passes in the Super Bowl). Over its final 13 games (including the playoffs), that Niner team scored more than 40 six times and less than 30 just twice, and one of those was the season finale – which the Niners lost – when Young and Jerry Rice were benched after the first quarter.

citizenstrange – Not so fast, think about it…

In Norv’s first year as HC the Bolts won two playoff games, advancing to the AFC Championship game.

The following year Norv’s Bolts again won a playoff game, beating the Colts in Indy.

I would argue that Norv’s first two seasons were more successful than any season Marty had in San Diego.

However…the early playoff exit in 2009 put Norv on Marty’s level and last year’s underachieving performance did make me pine for Marty again.

I'm not sure if other Bolt fans would agree with me, but that Super Bowl lost doesn't quite feel like a "worst" moment. My expectations were just not that high, and I had more of "just happy to be there" feeling going into that game.

I'd put Merriman's knee injury in that top 4. He had 17 sacks in 12 games after the suspension. The following year he had 10.5 sacks in 14 games until that injury. Since then? 6 sacks in 3+ years. This has been the problem with the defense. Great stats, but no playmaker, thus making the defense exploitable at times.

But certainly, that 2006 loss to NE was the worse. Dominated the first half and then found every conceivable way to keep giving the ball back to NE:
