Our new favorite NFL punter (sorry, Todd Sauerbrun) is Brian Moorman. The two-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All Pro joined PFT Live on Thursday for a lively discussion prompted by his decision to auction via eBay a signed, game-worn jersey, with proceeds benefiting tornado relief efforts in Joplin, Missouri.

Though we stayed for the discussion of the monstrous Pro Bowl hit from Sean Taylor, we came for the discussion of Moorman’s tornado relief efforts. And we’re hoping that one of you is holding back some big money, which will be dropped just before tomorrow morning’s deadline for the Moorman jersey.

Currently, the top bid is $595.

If you can’t afford to get into the bidding, you can make much smaller donations of $10 by texting REDCROSS to 90999 (for a Red Cross donation), JOPLIN to 80888 (Salvation Army), and/or JOPLIN to 864833 (United Way). Alternatively, donations can be made at RebuildJoplin.org and/or SamaritansPurse.org.

Moorman isn’t the only member of his team helping the cause. Bills players will be partnering with New Era Cap Company (headquartered in Buffalo) to donate at least $10,000 to the Red Cross Joplin tornado relief effort. Also, New Era will also be donating 10,000 pieces of apparel for the people.

So do your best, PFT Planet. Joplin needs our help, and we’re proud of the efforts of NFL players to pitch in and help.
