So minicamp and OTA season are gone. As the lockout continues to drag on, teams around the league have had to adjust their free agency plans.

“We had an idea back in April what direction we wanted to go,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier told Tom Pelissero of espn1500.com, referring to his quarterback situation. “In May, we thought about some things. Now, we’re into June and we’re still discussing what’s the best option for us and for our quarterbacks.”

As mentioned in one-liners, Frazier could feel more anxiety about starting rookie Christian Ponder from day one the longer the lockout drags on.

“What you don’t want to do is put a guy in harm’s way to the point where his confidence is affected for the future. So, we’ve got some different things that we’ve got to talk through and figure out based on when we start football,” Frazier said.

It’s worth noting what a difference a full training camp would make. Getting Ponder ready to start in six weeks would be a lot different than if the lockout ends with just, say, three weeks and one exhibition game before the season.

In that scenario, Frazier may have no choice but to look to a veteran.
