Another Colts fan that is in denial!!!! I live in Indy and I follow the Dolts closely. There is no way this team makes the playoffs without Manning. Look at the roster all you want, there is no one else! Remember his knee surgery? They were 3-4 to start that season off cause he was not up to speed! Manning not up to speed is still better than 50% of the Starting QB’s in the league!

Colts would be in much worse shape if Peyton can’t play (which won’t be the case I’m sure). The Colts backup is Painter…one of, if not the, worst backups in the league it seems. Add to that the poor defense and the lack of a decent running game, and the Colts are in it deep if Peyton ever can’t play.

Did they even look at and consider forehead reduction surgery? Is it possible even in today’s technology advanced medical field? Have they tried offsetting the weight differential by gluing a counter weight to the back of his skull? It would take a custom built helmet of course but surely that was considered too.

I don’t understand why some players have these “minor” procedures so late after the season has ended… The last game was played in February… why not have the surgery then and allow 6 months to heal instead of just 2 or 3 months???

Surgery is the last option, you can bet they tried several pain management techniques before they decided to go with surgery. Can’t always do what’s best for football, sometimes gotta go with what’s best for the person, especially if that person is of advanced age, relative to an NFL career.

Well that isn’t good news for the Colt’s, this team is one player away from being a 500 team at best! If Peyton can’t go or has a hard time recovering they really don’t have anything behind him at QB.

Guy had neck surgery to fix a herniated disc 10 days ago and recovery isn’t going as quickly as hoped? As hoped by whom? Peyton Manning? His doctor? No doubt he wants to get out there and start throwing but how realistic is that 10 days later?

Any football player who has surgery at the end of May – neck or anywhere else – is “not where he wants to be.”

I wouldn’t minimize the condition/surgery, but I would minimize Archie’s comment and characterize it as common sense.
