Rams already have 2 WRs drafted this year in Pettis and Salas, Avery coming back from injury, Clayton expected to re-sign and who played well when he was healthy last season and does have a Brandon Lloyd type build which should be great in Josh McDaniels offense, Amendola, Gibson, DX, Gilyard, and possibly even Laurent Robinson coming back (depending on restricted FA rules for next season), I’m pretty sure that’s 8 players and honesty, all of the 9 would be better than Plax. I definitely thought Plax got a raw deal in NY on the gun case, but that’s a whole different story. There’s no way I want him on the Rams, there’s no room for him. Salas, Pettis, Amendola, Clayton, DX, and Avery will be the 6 Rams receivers. No need for Plax.

Hmm… If I had absolutely no WR talent, and a good $15M in cap room to burn..

I’d be intrigued at the possibility of having T.O, Burress, Moss, and/or Chad Johnson on my team. All the “rejects” come together for one last shot at a title. I’m sure the four of them combined could put up numbers worthy of two decent WRs.

Someone made a valid point on your previous post about Plex landing in Philly. I don’t think he would be allowed to unless he gets special permission. Convicted felons aren’t allowed to hang out or work together. It’s a parole violation.

how good can he be? I know he is out of prison and should be highly motivated but lets face facts he will be 34 when the season starts.

A 34 yr old WR who hasnt played ball for a few years isnt exactly a good thing. I hope he has learned from his mistakes and cleans up his life, but I dont think he will be all that good.

I know Vick was similar but he was in his twenties when he got out and it still took a year for him to regain form.

Would like to see him come back to Pittsburgh. i know it is not likey. I think the rams and bradford could really use this guy. they should make a serious push for him. Burress, Clayton and the rook that got hurt in preseason last year would be good. Send Danny Anecdotal packing!

You have to figure that Plax will go where the money is. He’s got a couple years left … 3 at best … and needs to make the most of them.

It’s also likely that the top bidding team(s) will expect him to start. So clubs with good receiving units are unlikely suitors. They’ll be out-bid by more desperate franchises.

The question comes down to not just who wants him … but who can offer him the most snaps.

Based on that, the Rams and Jets look like the contenders to me.

Something tells me Steve Spagnuolo – a big “chemistry” and “character” kind of guy – wouldn’t sign Burress if his life depended on it. There are going to be PLENTY of WR’s available in free agency (Whenever that actually begins…), and he’ll want to make that team younger. Why would he want a 34-year-old WR who hasn’t played a down in the NFL in almost 3 seasons?

Spags wouldn’t want his young franchise QB to be paired up with a sulking WR who yells at his QB (Remember the Titans/Giants game with Pacman’s INT and all the accusations of Burress giving up on a ball, as well as the following tackle?). It’s not as if Spagnuolo ran the offense in NY – he doesn’t exactly have a history with Burress on a professional level, other than letting Corey Webster line up against him in practice.

These rumors and speculations are pointless right now. He could just as easily go to the Titans, Cardinals, 49ers, Seahawks, Jets, Dolphins, Texans, Vikings, Redskins, Bengals, Browns, Bears, etc, etc… if the Rams had the choice of getting a young, quality WR like Holmes, Rice, or Vincent Jackson, they’ll take any of them over a 34-year-old malcontent whose best days are behind him.

And make no mistake about it: he’ll want $3-5M, I guarantee it. Where does a $5M/year WR who would NOT start in Philly AND doesn’t play special teams fit in on the Eagles? He wouldn’t. Stop this already – he could end up anywhere.

Plax was sporting a philly hat upon his release. Djax, Maclin, Avant, Burress, Cooper are the 5 wrs on the squad if that happens. He could def help in the red zone immediately… so much talent at wr on that team already… love it.

Plax doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Eagles. We’re already set at the first 3 WR spots (DJax, Maclin, Avant) and with the shortened camps to prepare for the season (hopefully), the Birds need to spend their time focusing on their O-line, and defense.
