THe ONLY way Hasselback will be playing elsewhere is if Mike Brown were willing to give in and trade Carson Palmer. In that circumstance, Pete Carroll would give everything and the kitchen sink to get his USC boy back. Then Hasselback is gone. But Mike Brown is not going to trade CP, CP will retire, and Hasselback will stay right where he is.

Peter King is an embarrassment to sports reporting. His continued exposure and popularity are also a testament to how stupid the average sports fan is becoming.

I think Peter King sucks. Possibly. Or he doesn’t. there is a good chance he quasi sucks sometimes.

I am sure if you look hard enough you will find (or will find shortly) a Peter King story indicating that his sources tell him Matt Hasselbeck will be staying in Seattle next year.

That’s his professional m.o. Throw so much stuff up against the wall that some of it is bound to stick. Then stand back and say “I told you so..”

Hasselbeck is too much of a ‘status quo’ influence on a new and emerging organization. Seattle is still rebuilding, and will have a losing season with or without Hasselbeck. It’s better for the organization to move forward without having to constantly make excuses for what the QB did for the team in the past.

With the strike/lock out /labor strife going down hill and a shorten season, or at least compressed season looking more and more likely, The Seahawks will need his presence. He will not be going anywhere. AS for leadership, Matt has made it clear that he has some interest in coaching in his future, well this is his chance to get some experience in doing that. Clearly he has the respect of his team mates.

King was in Seattle all weekend and attended the U2 concert with Seattle GM John Schneider. I have strong confidence in this information.
