Don’t you love the fact Haynesworth was quoted as complaining about the “slave system” in the NFL last year? Now we know that he was asked to put down the phone and paper for meetings. Oh my.

And if they can’t trade him this offseason, seriously, just release him. If he goes to the Eagles or the Cowboys or something, just let it happen. I would rather have him play lights out against us for 2 games per year than to have him destroy the team the full 16…

This never would have happened if the Redskins and Shanarat didn’t lie. If they told him before signing he would be a nose tackle, he wouldn’t have signed. They pulled a “Bait & Switch” con on him, and act like “What?”. I can see why he would do this, to burn Shanarat and Snyder,”Dumb & Dumber”. LMFAO, that’s what this is.

Haynesworth has played 2 seasons for the redskins, not 1. Shanahan has only been the coach for one season. Shanahan also offered to release Haynesworth if he didn’t want to be a nose tackle, before his $40 mill balloon payment that was due last offseason. Haynesworth said he’d have no problem and the redskins paid the $40 mill. After Haynesworth made sure the money was deposited he tried to get canned so that he could get another big payday from a 4-3 team.

This is almost like DeAngelo Hall with the raiders. Makes you wonder how both players ended up on the skins.

Anyway, don’t blame Shanahan for lying to Albert. Albert wanted his money and freedom but only got one of the two.

Of course your salary is performance based. If you don’t perform your job you get fired. (Notable exceptions being Union and Government). CEO salaries should be stipend amounts and bonus money should be tied to the company performance, and it shouldn’t be tied to “slash and burn” tactics for driving up net revenues. It’s called real life.

Funny though how when the Fat Al Shuttle Test was going on PFT was talking about how Shanahan was just trying to be a “badda$$” and that it was only a matter of time before Shan “lost the team.” Many notable posters agreed.

The way it played out…the team AGREES that Haynesworth is a bad egg and needed to be treated more firmly.

So, Shanahan maybe was not the “monster” you made him out to be?

He’s at the end of his career and he let this happen? HE should’ve punched Fat Albert right in the Mouth…Thats how these things are handled in the NFL… He didn’t, no one else did either..

This doesn’t happen in a Ravens or Patriots locker room for sure…and I would bet it doesn’t happen in 75% of the other teams around the league…

Redskins players need not blame the coaches, Blame yourselves

ChildressRulz, you can’t blame coaches for choosing talented players. Everyone wants to believe that T.O. has changed. T.O. even says he has changed. But then a team goes out on a limb to get him and its the same old stuff. Need to find a better way to punish the players, not teams in these scenarios.

Genious, teams have caps, so you can’t front load the contracts in year 1. your theory wouldn’t work.

But I work my damn tail off picking up for the slackers that do as little as possible so the manufacturing line keeps moving. Because I have pride and a sense of workmanship and loyalty to the company that has paid me a lot of money even though I’m ‘just’ a high school graduate and former Marine.

Andre Gurode could have told you back in 2006 that Albert was a no good son-of-a-b****.

haha are you kidding? they let him hang around and goad McNabb looong after the trouble started. He mentioned McNabb getting tired in the Super Bowl in April of ’05, didn’t suspend him until November, and didn’t release him until March of ’06. Nobody with the team said a word to him after he wore a Michael Irvin throwback jersey after the Eagles got beaten down the the Cowboys 33-10.

Duh…money is the only thing this guy “gets”. Honor, integrity, hard work, team work, sacrifice, dedication, determination, leadership and all those sorts of things are a foreign language to Fat Albert.

If you are the top Free agent, you’re going to simply sign with the team that pays you most in Year 1. This will drive up the amount of money they get, and increase the likelihood that they just give up since the rest of the deal isn’t guaranteed anyway.

It sounds good in theory to base pay off quantitative measurements like stats. However when your pay is based on stats suddenly the guy that is willing to take on double teams start to tell himself that he needs to get a sack. That quiet hard working receiver starts yelling at people to get him the ball like T.O.

On top of that it doesn’t account for vindictive or incompetent coaches that don’t know how to use their player or simply don’t like someone for the silliest reasons.

Haynesworth obviously is getting what he deserves. However increasing the portion of performance base pay would open a host of new problems.
