If a convicted child molester moved in next door to your house and you had children, would you feel ok with that just because he served time in prison for his crimes? Lets say the guy went to jail for 5-10 years for a sexual crime that involved a child roughly around the same age as your child... would you be singing the same tune saying "he paid his debt to society, leave the guy alone"? I doubt it. You would be uneasy around the guy, you would feel furious if you saw the guy even glance at your child, you would never ever let your child talk to the guy.... but why, he went to prison and "paid his debt" and surely he learned his lesson in prison, right? All im saying is you guys give him a pass because he's Mike Vick, and you all say "he paid his debt to society" as if the prison system is 100% effective and correctly rehabilitates criminals when we all know that to be a complete crock. All Vick is is a football player, why does he deserve any special treatment than any other convicted felon? If your reasoning is simply because "its just dogs" then you may not understand the law's stance on this. Had he gone to jail for his crimes that involved actual dogfighting and the killing of dogs he would've gotten a much longer prison sentence, but he did not serve time for that, he did not "pay his debt" for that, he went to prison for gambling charges as a plea bargain. Saying "its just DOGS!!!!" is just like saying "its just DRUGS" when a drug dealer goes to prison and not taking into consideration the lives that that man ruins by selling his poison to people. Look up pictures of dogs who have been killed/injured in a dogfighting ring and tell me it isn't wrong, morally and lawfully. What about the dogs, do they truly not matter? Do they not deserve to be able to live a life without torture? Do they deserve the abuse? Do they not deserve the chance to be loved by some one who loves dogs? They weren't given that chance... they were murdered in cold blood and thats not an opinion, thats a clear fact. Look at it from all sides, not just one.

If you read above, it clearly states why people are "are still on Vick for this stuff." Typical Vick defender, doesn't read anything, wants to interject an opinion filled with issues that have nothing to do with Vick. All they want to do is see their failed logic on the web & shill for someone that is pure evil. If Vick defenders ever picked up a book & educated themselves, that would be the real surprise. The ignorance that surrounds Vick defenders is the pure definition of Mike Vick himself.

I truly hope that all 50 of those so c alled protesters never need a second chance at anything.

Nobody is saying Vick shouldn't get a second chance, only that is should have started with "can I take your order, please?" and ended with "do you want fries with that?"

The fact this VD-spreading, dog torturing, dope smoking sociopath is getting praised by playing "hero" to children of Philly is simply wrong on too many levels to count. However, it does sum up the "City of Brotherly Love" quite nicely.

BTW: I can assure you the vast majority of people protesting and/or having issues with Vick playing in the NFL have never needed a "second chance" after doing federal time for interstate racketeering and illicit gambling charges. Of course, I would also suspect that you would be an exception to that statement.

1) Vick paid his debt- Totally untrue- he went to prison for organized gambling, not for his sadistic torture of already hurt & screaming animals for fun. By VA law, he should have gotten 10 years. He didn't BEACUSE of who he was he got of way too easy.

2) The protesting on Vick is because of his horrific cruelty, not for "killing" dogs. It's no where near that simple. Yes PITA euthanizes animals, all shelters do. Euthanizing isn’t TORTURE, Vick intentionally TORTURED. I have never seen a Vick defender address that fact, the TORTURE. Anyone that has ever read about individuals that torture animals for fun understands the deep inner sickness of people that do these things. Add to it Vick did this for 6 YEARS & it is even more horrific than other animal’s abusers.

3) His second chance is getting another shot to play pro football. The second chance has nothing to do with public opinion. He has never expressed any remorse for the torture. He hasn't contributed one dime to abused animals. He admitted a few months ago that he would do it again. Does that sound like someone "sorry" & remorseful for the cruelty & pain he intentionally & senselessly dished out? NO it isn't.

4) Just as the simple minded here that defend this POS, educated, aware people have the right to protest anyone that would multiple times a week abuse & torture already crying & ripped up animals for fun. Vick defenders love to bring in hunting & the food industry. No hunters are catching prey & as they cry in pain intentionally torture them. Did Vick eat the dogs? C’mon with this totally ridiculous analogy. Domestic animals are like ants? Seriously?? The things Vick defenders come up with are as sick as his crimes.

5) Religion has nothing to do with the things Vick did. Judging in a religious sense or moral sense isn't the issue that Vick fans try & make it. It's about sick, sadistic mental issues. Anyone (according to the FBI & mental professionals) that would torture animals for self fulfillment is sick, plain & simple. This is behavior is well documented in detail if Vick defenders care to educate themselves instead of sticking up for such a poor excuse for a human being blindly. Ignorance is truly bliss for Vick fans.

6) Vick defenders love to tell others what to protest, what to feel. They love to tell others what acts or crimes are more important than what Vick did, as they ignore him knowingly infecting human beings with incurable disease. If this fool lived in their neighborhoods & did the things he did, worked at a gas station or landscaping - no one would be sticking up for him. But people that understand animal torture & abuse would still be circulating petitions & writing letters asking he get maximum penalties. That is the difference Vick fans, people that understand animal torture feel the same way about anyone that would be heartless enough to torture already hurt & bleeding creatures. Vick defenders couldn't care less about any other regular person that got in trouble as Vick did.

I doubt you are really concerned about all the problems in the world. You are just using that as an excuse for Vick. Yes there will always be problems in the world created by people towards people. Dogs give unconditional love even after being abused. They depend on the kindness of humans and Vick and other animal abusers let them down. Animal and human abusers/sadists are in lay terms called monsters. We have every right to stop this depraved behavior wherever it occurs.

Guy lost two years of his life and 100 million dollars worth of endorsements, he has done lots of speaking engagements above and beyond what the league and his parole call for.

Debt paid, why do people not protest like this about hunger in our country, lack of a solid education system, and violence we have towards one another. 1/3 of all people who go to emergency rooms are victims fo a violent crime.

When all the starving people in the world push their plates to the center of the table and say not another bite and we go a whole day without someone being murdered anywhere on the planet I will turn my attention to the animal kingdom and the injustices there.

Yes there is something wrong with people who think its quite ok to torture animals. Killing cattle for the sake of food is different because it is for the sake of food. Believe it or not not all people are medically able to be vegetarians, so in that instance its for the sake of survival. And yes people should respect animal and human life the same... there is not one good sane, logical reason for one to torture animals for entertainment... that is sick and disgusting. Yes people have EVERY right to protest Vick when he signs autographs, when he suits up and plays football, when he does commercials, etc... when he puts himself in the public eye he is welcoming the good along with the bad... he knows the score, why dont you? I dont think people are jealous of him making millions bc if that were the case theyd be jealous and hate every single player in the NFL. They are angry because Vick gets a slap on the wrist because hes a football player, and YES 23 months for what he did is a slap on the wrist! This guy is doing more for cruelty awareness than 99% of people??? Really??? Hes done more cruelty to animals than 99% of us too, he does those things because thats the only way he can repair his image so people like you will say the things you say, wake up dude! Pitt Bulls or any dog for that matter who attack or are aggressive toward people are a reflection on irresponsible owners... its the same premise of a child if you raise them correctly they act correctly. You're generalizing and it makes your comments less credible. My friend has a pittbull and the only way that dog could kill you is if it licked you to death, complete sweetheart... so theres a hole in your pitt theory. Really, not too many things are worse than what OJ did? So you would rank OJ's crime in the top 50 of all time crimes ever committed? What he did was horrible but its not that uncommon for a crazy ex husband to do what he did... it happens quite often. Read about what happens around the world every single day and you will find more horrible and disgusting things than what OJ did. I will not go into detail on those things. You contradicted yourself because you said Vick wasn't a sadist but you said Vick looked at dogs like other people would look at ants (burning ants with a magnifying glass is sadistic behavior), you admitted that what Vick did was wrong. In case you didnt know, your hero Vick admitted to having personal gratification in carrying out those acts... that is the definition of sadism. Dogfighting in itself is sadism. Please for the sake of humanity get yourself some serious help. Im not even being funny about that.

It is a problem. Dog fighting is a HUGE PROBLEM. Read a book, watch a documentary, what happens to these dogs is horrid, unimaginable, and absolutely heart breaking. Its not that im this crazy dog lover, but i love my german shep and if someone did something like that to my dog they'd put mme in jail for a very long time if i found those responsible, he is a member of our family. The people who take part in this activity are absolute scum and deserve a more harsh punishment than prison... but thats just my opinion. Rapists, murderers, drug dealers don't play in the NFL. Yes, Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth played after killing someone while driving under the influence but take a look at the facts just as people do with Vick... Stallworth and Little did not commit these crimes in a premeditated organized manner. And instead of being sentenced to life in prison they offered the berived families money to make the problem go away. If some wealthy celebrity/sports figure killed my relative and offered me money to make it go away id spit in their face and tell them to rot in prison but in this case, the families took the money. Were they (Stallworth and Little) stupid and wreckless, ABSOLUTELY! But the intent is not that of Vick's, they did not intend to see a person in the street and purposely run them down. Now, do I feel they should have been let back into the NFL... absolutely not! The NFL is one of the biggest corporations in the world. If you work in the corporate world, like i do, you know that when you are convicted of such crimes as little, stallworth, and definitely Vick you are just about assured that once you walk out of the jailhouse you will be jobless. The NFL has to be more concerned about its public image than it is right now because it is at an all time low (not considering the effects the lockout). Prisoners are walking out of the prison yard straight to the football field, what does that say to kids? Most importantly what does that say to atheletes that are almost to that level (Terrell Pryor) it says i can do just about anything I want, appear to be sorry, and i'll be back at it in no time. If I were Roger Goddell I'd say "look Mike, pac-man, Leonard, Donte, Chris Henry, etc... you are a great athelete but your repeated misconduct has left me with no other choice but to ban you from the NFL. Ive given you chance after chance and it has not gotten through to you and I will not let the NFL's image be associated with your antics. We have a responsibility to our fans, especially the young ones, to be represented in a positive way." Im not saying Mike Vick cannot live his life after prison I just dont see why he has been given the privilige to continue his NFL career when he has time and again proved that he has no regard for their rules as well as the law. All these people who claim he's doing charity work (which is REQUIRED by ALL NFL players) and how hes saying all the right things to own up to what he did.... what do you expect? Did you expect for him to come out and say, I dont care and im not sorry for what I did? This wasn't his first time in trouble. If the NFL is not careful you will inevitably see a "Ron Artest" incident very very soon and that....wil be a very sad day! Cheers!

Donte Stallworth unintentionally killed someone while driving intoxicated….. REALLY??? He intentionally got in a car knowing he was over the limit..He took a HUMAN life, yes he did not intend to kill anyone…but the resuslt is worse..Think of it like this: Would you be more sad if you lost a family member/loved one due to a drunk driver or if some nut killed your dog. If you had to think on that one….You need help.

What the hell was the purpose of this comment? You question me and you agree with me in the same paragraph. Yes....the result was worse....I was talking about the INTENT. Donte Stallworth made a terrible terrible mistake, and he should pay a greater price in my opinion, but Michael Vick committed appalling acts INTENTIONALLY. That was my point...thank you for agreeing.

@breeshasabush im just saying of all the problems going on in the world some one who participated in dog playing in the NFL isnt a problem why not just leave the man alone? There are tons of players in the NFL that have done worse things then dog fighting. What vick did was wrong but hes getting ridiculed and sent to prison for dog fighting while alot murders, drug dealers, and rapist get away with things. Why go out your way to ridicule some one who did his time and is turning his life around? Why not go annoy a politician whos stealing your money or a peta building that neglects the animals they "save" ?

Wow I'm sure that all of that exactly is what Vick wanted to hear

OH Good Lord what a festering load of crap. He DID get his second chance…it was called being released from prison. Why exactly does he deserve a second chance to be a mulitmillionaire on top of that? Playing in the NFL is a privilege, it’s amazing to me that people don’t think this turd deserves to be treated by society at large the same way every other convicted felon is…with ostracization and being relegated to the crap jobs of the world. Name one other profession besides professional athlete or actor where an ex con is not only able to keep his old job but is welcomed back with open arms and a clean slate like nothing ever happened. Name one other professional industry where that person keeps their credentials and ability to do their job instead of losing their license and being effectively banned from ever doing that job in this country again

Playing in the NFL is not a privilege when you are loaded with talent like Michael Vick. Vick just happens to be one of the greatest athletes to play the game. Not his fault that he is super talented and teams wanted to sign him.

So if someone does not hold dogs to people standards then there is something wrong with them? No, there is something wrong with people who hold any life form to or above a human beings life, which is clearly what is happening with these nitwits. These people have the right to protest Vick and the opposite of that is Vick trying to live his life? Give me a break, What Vick did has nothing to do with anyone. I don't see how it has affected anyones life. These people are jealous that he is able to still make a good living, so they must try to hold on to this notion that by protesting Vick signing autographs that they are in some way doing something good. How are they doing anything constructive? They are not doing anything to help there cause by protesting Vick. What does harassing this man accomplish? NOTHING! This guy is doing more good for the awareness of animal cruelty than 99% of people in the world, and most likely more than anyone protesting him. Pit bulls are wild animals which snap at any time. There are a lot of natural wild animals that are way less aggressive than a pit bull and they are by far the most aggressive dog. These animals need to be banned. Not to many things are worse than what OJ Simpson did and Vick didn't even come close to what OJ did. So how did I contradict myself? You never explained that.

Right on oldbyrd. Tell it like it is. It is ONLY because this guy is in sports that he got to go back to his old job after what he did. You sports fans will excuse any behavior away so you can watch your game. He's not going to give you any money. Why adore the guy so much? He isn't god and he just like other animal/human abuser did a really horrible thing. You know what makes it even worse? These dogs give UNCONDITIONAL LOVE EVEN AFTER THEY ARE ABUSED UNTIL THEY CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE OR ARE FINALLY KILLED.
oldbyrd says:

"I truly hope that all 50 of those so called protesters never need a second chance at anything."

OH Good Lord what a festering load of crap. He DID get his second chance...it was called being released from prison. Why exactly does he deserve a second chance to be a mulitmillionaire on top of that? Playing in the NFL is a privilege, it's amazing to me that people don't think this turd deserves to be treated by society at large the same way every other convicted felon is...with ostracization and being relegated to the crap jobs of the world. Name one other profession besides professional athlete or actor where an ex con is not only able to keep his old job but is welcomed back with open arms and a clean slate like nothing ever happened. Name one other professional industry where that person keeps their credentials and ability to do their job instead of losing their license and being effectively banned from ever doing that job in this country again.

As for the lame oft repeated Stallsworth comparison:

Good God people could you be any more simple minded with that? For starters Donte would have hit that guy whether he was drunk or not. His BAC as stated by the police AND THE FAMILY had nothing to do with the accident. The man who died ran out onto a Highway at night. There's a huge reason why the guy's family was completely satisfied with Stallworth's sentence...they knew their loved one was responsible for his own death.

Donte drove drunk and he deserves no slack for that but comparing that incident to Vick's willful systematic cruelty to animals is not only absurd, it's intellectually insulting to anyone with half a brain. Vick and his boys were taking people's pets and throwing them in to be slaughtered as training for the fighting dogs, and they are on record as having laughed it up the whole time. Slamming a dog down by it's hind legs on pavement until it dies is beyond sick and 2 years in prison along with some serious marketing money and muscle thrown at rehabbing your image doesn't erase the psychosis that was at the root of it. This guy is a bad dude and we haven't even gotten into his Ron Mexico escapades.

Anyone like kellyb who defends this guy's right to "go out and do whatever he wants" after getting out early from a sentence that never addressed a single dog fighting charge has serious backbone or morality problems. Grow a spine and quit making excuses for this jerkoff, he should be pushing a broom somewhere not being sheltered by The Eagles and treated like a good guy who had a minor, brief lapse of judgement. This went on for over 6 years!

Don Imus, forced out of his job because he was a “disgrace” to his job title, i could go on and on. My thing is why would the NFL allow him back because his actions were certainly a disgrace to the NFL.

Don Imus was back on the air within 2 weeks after his statements with a new contract and a raise. Weiner will most likely hold another government post and most likely no one outside of his state will care. Yes what MV7 did was wrong and cruel but he paid his debt to society

I know that when it comes to Mike Vick, facts and reality seldom come in to play, but let me at least ATTEMPT to set the record straight. Everyone wants to say "He served his time - it's time to let it go." Let's be very clear about the facts of the case. Michael Vick pled guilty to a federal RICO charge of promoting gambling across state lines. That is all. The prosecutor for the Commonwealth of Virgina who was responsible for bringing the animal cruelty charges against Vick declined to do so. Bear in mind this is a man who (a) admitted to being a fan of Vick since his days as a Hokie at VT (b) represented Vick's father in a civil matter a couple years before (c) warned federal investigators that they were making a lot of enemies by pursuing the RICO charges & (d) actively and passively interfered in the federal investigation. The sentence for a conviction on a charge of animal cruelty that results in the death of the animal in VA is up to 5 years. Vick confessed to killing "6 or 7" dogs, but eyewitness testimony places that number much higher - 11 at least, with the belief that there were probably many more. Add in the numerous other charges that should have been levied against him - 51 counts of lesser animal abuse charges - and that's only ONE count for each dog that survived the house of horrors at Bad Newz Kennels - plus obstruction, making false statements, state gambling charges, tax evasion, etc, and Vick should still be sitting in a Virginia State Prison. And all that aside, when one makes a conscious decision to torture another living being purely for fun and profit, they have crossed a line that cannot be uncrossed. And when you add in the fact that Vick then summarily executed by means most foul those living creatures who failed to properly amuse him while they were being tortured, it should be fairly simple for any rational person to come to the conclustion that Michael Vick forfeited any right he had to be placed in a position where he could ever be viewed as a role model or sports hero tho the youth of America.

“Donte Stallworth unintentionally killed someone while driving intoxicated”
————————————-
Oh, so someone held Stallworth down and forceably shoved gallons of alcohol down his throat and then put a gun to his head, demanding that he get behind the wheel of a car??

Didnt think so.

The fact that people like you think that killing people while drunk is not that big of a deal, whereas killing a stupid animal is unforgivable, is a perfect example of why the legal system is horrficably f-ed up.

Never said that what Stallworth did isn't a big deal. In fact, if I ran the league neither of those degenerates would be there. My point was that Stallworth's crime was an exercise in poor judgement, but it was not premeditated. Vick was well aware of what he was doing, and did it for an extended period of time.

You're right...that darn legal system....looking to respect life, and to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Michael Vick spent 2 years in prison, leaves prison, and now he has tens of thousands of adoring fans and millions of dollars in his bank account. Oh....the humanity!!!!

There are people that have gotten away with murder, rape, and robbery out walking the streets soldiers are out in the middle east getting killed, obesity and cancer are killing americans, children around the world are living in the streets dodging bullets but who cares about them a guy who participated in dog fighting is playing in the NFL hes an abomination to the world and a dangerous human he should be in prison for life.

Rest assured had an NFL superstar committed any of those crimes you mentioned and was found guilty of those crimes or admitted to happily taking in those crimes and somehow found his way back into the NFL people would be doing the same thing to that person just the same as they are doing to Vick. Ray Lewis was just accused of murder, found innocent, and people still call him murderer.
