CKL says:Jun 21, 2011 2:08 PM

He drilled Newton on deliberately disobeying his coach at the end of that championship game.
------------------------
Wait a minute, Gruden actually drilled Cam Newton on doing what many Pro QBs have done at least once in their NFL career. Talk about an ESPN lackey. It's clear to see who signs Mr. Grudden's checks.

And as usual, many of the lazy sheeplings applaud the move.

"Peter King has some nerve. He bases most of his comments on how well he gets along with the player or owner. Case in point is how King hardly ever has a negative thing to say about ANY Patriots player. So for him to put down Gruden for doing the same thing is stupid. Plus, Gruden does expose some of these guys. He just has a nice way of doing it. He made Clausen look like a fool. Same with Cam Newton and his one page playbook. Gruden gets his point across."

Mr. Grudden IS instructed by his employee at ESPN as to how to handle these QBs based on how the elite media feels about them. Everyone realized that ESPN had it out for Cam because of Auburn so Mr. Grudden throwing NFL verbrage at him knowing he wouldn't be able to respond was simply doing what his employee asked of him. It was done to continue the stereotype against Cam and to show up Auburn. Noticed the same stunt wasn't done to Blaine or Mizzou.

If Mr. Grudden was being a real coach, all of the QBs weakeness would be exposed. Not just those that ESPN and NFLN single out and attacking.

I don't know which one is worst, ESPN for doing what they do or folks like you who are so small-minded that you're quick to believe everything as reality simply because the media plays to your personal prejudices.

Gruden knows he's not that good with young'uns @ QB. He even made fun of himself for it on one of those QB camps this year. You could say maybe he needs to learn different teaching & critique approaches to help the young guys develop because not all people learn best with the same methods but I can't fault him for being demanding of that position.

Who is teaching who?

Maybe with all these QB camps, Gruden will learn how to deal with a young QB.

He couldn't as a coach.

Thats the problem with ESPN. They have a predilection for giving head coaches a cushy landing spot after they have been fired. They do this knowing that the coach is not going to make TV his new career (ie John Madden) but instead is working on getting a new head coaching gig.

Under those circumstances every team becomes a potential new employer and every player someone is may have to work with. Is it any wonder then that all we get from Gruden is "happy talk" instead of critical analysis?

He might "like" everyone, but of you pay close attention during those QB interviews you can tell what parts of their game he questions as far as being what he feels is a good pro. He drilled Locker on taking too much physical abuse when he runs. He drilled Dalton on getting complacent in games. He drilled Newton on deliberately disobeying his coach at the end of that championship game. It tells me a lot how the guys handle being questioned like that. And to Gruden, I think the mental ability (toughness, taking criticism constructively, smarts etc.) is one of the biggest things a QB can have to be successful.
