Difference is, rookie wide receivers rarely make a positive impact. With his injury history, he’ll likely miss several games this season as well.

Saints beat the Seahawks in the regular season. But this is about the Falcons, who were the #1 seed playing a home and laid an egg.

WORST NUMBER ONE SEED EVER!!!!

“Green Bay’s got, what, four or five guys out there who can make plays? We’re going to be Green Bay South.”

He’s saying that with Julio Jones the Falcons offense will be much more explosive and have 4 or 5 guys that can make plays, LIKE GREEN BAY.

A. It’s a compliment to the Packers
B. It’s a fact

Saying Michael Turner isn’t a play maker is ignorant. Same can be said for himself, Matt Ryan, Tony Gonzalez and Jason Snelling. Factor in a healthy Jerious Norwood and Harry Douglas and it’s a lot of talent. If you disagree, go do your homework before you reply.

The Falcons went 13-3 and in the past 3 seasons have not suffered a losing year. Huge steps for the Falcons who were once the 3rd world country of the NFL. If the kid is excited about adding talent like Julio Jones and ‘Quizz’ Rodgers and that offends you perhaps you need help with your anger issues.

I agree their defense needs a pass rusher in a bad way but saying their run defense sucks show massive ignorance.

People are so quick to down others. That’s a sign of being disappointed with their own lives. Let the kid enjoy his success and be excited about his future. He’s earned. Saying he pushes off and that’s the only reason he 115 catches in 2010 is stupid. I don’t recall Michael Irvin mentioning that in his Hall of Fame speech and he was the master.

Note that the Falcons are much closer to the Raiders (410 pts) than any of the teams ahead of them. Maybe he should focus on beating them and then worry about the big boys.

With that said, Atlanta should still have a pretty decent team in place from last year. Yeah, GB destroyed them at home, but even as a Packer fan, I think Atlanta is a better team than they showed that day. I suspect that wasn’t the last time these teams meet in the playoffs.

Rookie wide receivers very rarely light it up their first year. 800-900 yards would be tremendous for a rookie WR — which isn’t exactly “Greatest Show on Turf” stuff for a #2 receiver.

By the time Jones finally turns into an elite receiver (assuming he does), Gonzalez will probably be retired. Plus Turner will have another year or two on his legs. He may have gotten to ride the pine for a few years, but the way he runs is going to wear him down.

Plus, Ryan has shown little ability to be a consistent downfield passer. He can make the throws, sure, but he’s inconsistent. Not to mention, the Falcons’ playcallers have shown little inclination to run that sort of offense. They’re one of the most conservative offenses in the NFL, especially when you consider some of the talent they have.

I’m skeptical of the Jones pick. I have difficulty believing that a rookie #2 WR is going to take you from a 48-21 undressing at home to Super Bowl champ.

the real issue is that the ATL defense SUCKS!!!

oh and they have NO run game

other then that sure compare them to a SanDiego or Giants team

Besides, defense is their biggest issue.

aaron rodgers > matt ryan (not even close)
roddy white > greg jennings (close, but white demands a double team. jennings, while my favorite, does not)
jermichael finley > tony gonzalez (again, not even close)
julio jones > jordy nelson (come on, man. jordy nelson is not the same kind of talent jones is. although they both excell at blocking, jones is a pure burner, and would probably throw nelson into the 5th row)
donald driver > michael jenkins (of course)

james jones > jordy nelson, donald driver
randall cobb > donald driver
james starks > ryan grant

Jones will put their offense over the top, and moreover, will greatly cushion Tony Gonzalez’s eventual departure.

However, they still won’t match up that well to Green Bay as of right now.

Dom Caper’s defense was just as instrumental as Aaron Rodger’s offense.

Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, Charles Woodson, and Nick Collins are a pretty good secondary. One might say they are a top 5 unit.

In a shoot-out, many times all you need to do is stop the other team once. I’d bet that the Packer D-backfield would be more likely to do that.

Not to mention that the Packers get Jermichael Finley back who is going to be tough to stop (too big for a CB, too fast for linebacker or safety).

Granted, Atlanta has a better running attack.

You can have another cute 13-3 season. Just get ready to drop them pants and bend over come playoff time, once again! Matty Ice?? What a joke. Just call him “Mr. Regular Season”!

Anyway, best of luck to you, Roddy. Atlanta didn’t do anything to bolster their defense in the draft, so you’re going to need to put up some points if you want to win.
