Tomlin tiptoes around talk of Tiki, Plaxico

Super Bowl XLV

With Peter King of SI.com thinking that running back Tiki Barber could be bound for the ‘Burgh and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger openly rooting for a return of receiver Plaxico Burress, it makes sense for anyone interviewing coach Mike Tomlin to ask about Barber and Burress.

Of course, it may not make sense for Tomlin to actually answer, but it definitely makes sense to ask.

Tomlin appeared as a guest Wednesday with Johnny D and The 757 Club of 1490 AM the Game in Virginia Beach. Tomlin was asked about both players.

“I don’t know the status of those two guys,” Tomlin said, “and I don’t worry about what’s said in the media in terms of potential free agents. That’s not my bag, man. This is slow sports time, so people are gonna say whatever it is they’re gonna say.”

It’s neither an admission nor a denial, so we’ll simply have to wait and see what happens once the lockout ends.
