There’s no alliance amongst athletes when it comes to finances. The only people they’re concerned for are themeselves and their families (rightfully so). But I can’t help but think that 1 super bowl ring for each wouldn’t be enough for players like Peyton Manning and Drew Brees to cripple their own teams. As much as I love watching these guys play ball when is enough enough?! Plus if I’m not mistaken Peyton has lost more big games then he’s won. His play-off record 9-10. Drew’s play-off record 6-6. Can someone please tell me, in what other walks of life does succeeding 1/2 of the time warrant receiving more money?!

100 million dollar contracts to the 35 year old qbs like Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Drew Brees…. if I was an owner I’d trade them for 2 first rounders and move on….. saying nothing left to see here.

Brees will get top dollar, no way NO ownership will throw away what this franchise has accomplished since his arrival…..he is a top 5 QB who has at least 5 good yrs left, the city loves him, he’s a leader and took the team too and won a Super Bowl……When its all said and done his contract will be very close to Manning, rightfully so

Wrong….again TF. The profession “doctor” is WORTH infinitely more than the profession “Xball Player”. No one who plays any game is WORTH anything because they play a game. A doctor/nurse/fireman/etc is WORTH more BECAUSE they are a doctor/nurse/fireman.

Sorry, TommyF, hate to disappoint you, but I don’t resent them. Hope they get as much as they can. Like I said, his play on the field and the economics of the game means he should be paid biiiiiiiiiiiig bucks. But don’t confuse that with being WORTH that kind of money outside of the white lines.

Simpletons sometimes have difficulty making such distinctions.

I really hate it when people say nonsense like this. The world isn’t always a fair place- did you just figure that out?

People that are successful in the entertainment business, whether it be Drew Brees, Oprah Winfrey or Mick Jagger, make more than a civil servant. The money an entertainer makes comes from the revenues they generate, while a civil servant’s salary comes from taxpayers.

The whole “teachers and firemen” thing is just another bad argument from jealous, resentful sports fans.

Used to respect Brees, but his asinine comments during this off season of decert and lawsuits has shown he’s may not be the sharpest tack in the box and should keep his “leadership” duties to the field.

As a player, he deserve big money for the job he has done with the Saints, but seriously is ANY player WORTH 20 mil a year? The people calling Brees greedy are seriously ignorant. You obviously haven’t followed his career and are just jumping on this “Brees caused the lockout” bandwagon, which is just as simple minded. Drew has restructured his deal a couple of times so the Saints had more money for other players. He’s also paid for many players this offseason to attend workouts and has dedicated a countless amount of time and money to charities. But no, keep spitting out the same drivel that you read in the comments section of PFT. Don’t do any research or critical thinking.

There is more to football than just the game itself, there is the business side and off field behavior. You couldn’t ask for a better QB than Brady, Brees or Manning. These guys do so much for their respective franchises and local communities.
