Ronnie Brown wants to “go get a championship”

The radio show hosted by Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder didn’t include only an effort by Crowder to psychoanalyze those who hate him (and/or “hate on” him, which may or may not be slightly different). One of the guests joining Crowder and our good friend Zach Krantz was Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown.

The second overall pick in the 2005 draft, Brown will be an unrestricted free agent whenever the lockout is lifted. And Brown is prepared for the strong possibility that he’ll leave Miami.

“It’s hard, but I am,” Brown said, via Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I came to the realization that’s a possibility. My biggest thing is being prepared.”

So where would Brown like to play?

“I said I’d prefer to go somewhere warm, but coming out of the SEC I’m use to winning,” Brown said. “I want to go get a championship.”

The biggest questions are how much he’ll be paid and the extent of his role. Even though Brown said he “can still carry the load,” he’s never been an every-down workhorse. Even at Auburn, Brown shared touches with Cadillac Williams, the fifth overall pick in the same draft.

In his six-year career, Brown has broken four figures in rushing only once, gaining 1,008 yards in 2006. But for his only-guy-who-volunteered command of the Wildcat offense, he’d potentially be regarded as an average tailback whose age (he turns 30 in December) and injury history make him less attractive than a young player with a full layer of tread on the tires.
