APTuesday marked the start of another exciting round of “Camp Alex,” the players-only 49ers minicamp organized by Alex Smith.
Roughly 20 players showed up, including wide receiver Michael Crabtree. For the second straight minicamp, Crabtree sat in with the team during Smith’s teaching sessions but mostly watched the workouts. (He didn’t run routes but was out there.)
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee writes that Crabtree has been sidelined because he has been bothered by the same foot that required surgery before the draft.
It’s not a huge deal that Crabtree isn’t running around in June, but getting him on the field for once in training camp will be a priority for a team with little playmaking ability at wide receiver.

Is it still lodged in his big mouth … vernon davis should remove it for him
Did he hurt it jamming it into his mouth talking smack about Alex Smith?
can we call him a bust yet or do we have to wait another season or two?
Bust?
Why is smith teaching I thought that he sucks.
Maybe Smith practices witchcraft and put a spell on him
@ Vanhawker
Yes a bust, someone who doesn’t produce after being selected in the first round due to injury, lack of talent and/or laziness.
Crabtree’s foot injury is making him more of a bust then anything else.
Can you imagine the CRAP the Raiders would be taking if they HAD taken this turd?
Yeah, the Raiders took Darius Heyward Bay instead who has 500 yds receiving in his career while Crabtree has close to 1400.
Crabfoot is still a DIVA…..that will NEVER change.

And I would still take the guy that works his butt off and doesn’t complain about a thing who doesn’t have the numbers 2 years in his career over the guy who thought he was the 2nd coming of Jerry Rice before ever playing a single game. Both of them still have years ahead of the potentially.. I’ll take the guy who isn’t a headache… not to mention, when they did come out, there was no denying that Crabtree was the more “game ready” guy… thing was, the Raiders wanted character in a guy they could build.. not just accepting the next clown that thought his poo didn’t stink.
