Awww how cute (pinch cheek) all the Raiders Nation has decided to bash Sapp because he made a negative comment about Huff. Its typical to replace good common sence with outrage when one of your own is dissed.

Sapp was the best DT in the last 15 years, NO coach has or will say “I hope our new DB is the next Michael Huff” EVERY coach says “I hope our new DT is the next Warren Sapp”

Half the teams in the league use old footage of the Tampa D-Line and Sapp in particular to teach the 3 technique… still!, 7 years later!

Yes Sapp didn’t make Defencive player of the year as a Raider, but he WAS double teamed on every 7 step drop the other teams had. He took plays off? I think your confusing Sapp and Moss, you cannot find tape of ONE play he took off. Sapp knows how to practice, and know what it takes to be a star and a leader, and he has a unique perspective as a teamate that none of us have, I doubt he made this up just to be a jerk.

Huff has had two good years, not just the past one, and it makes sense that when the offense can hold on to the ball instead of going 3 and out, like they did 90% of the time in his first two years, that the defenders won’t just be sitting ducks, and dead tired.

The Al Davis manic bias tinted glasses are causing some of you to not analyze what is really happening. Huff has been good for two years. Mitchell is not ready.

I hope we resign Huff, but Bush and Miller are the priorities.

Lifelong packers fan here. I remember a game in which Sapp came through the middle, losing his helmet in the process. He still hit Favre HARD, coming in forehead first.

I became a fan of Sapp right then and there (and I still liked Favre at the time). I just had to respect a guy that played that hard.

Warren Sapp aka QBKILLA99 is the best DT of the decade and possibly of alltime. He changed the game. Why all the hate towards him? He maybe a little jerk off the field, but on the field, he was one of the best. He won a Super Bowl against the Raiders. Suh will be the next DT to be as good as Sapp was.

All the Raiders fans want this guy back? In the photo, he’s getting stiff armed by Tebow.

It is difficult to evaluate Huff because he came in at a time where the Raiders had one of the worst rosters in the entire league. Of course, everybody on the team looked absolutely terrible except for the kicker and punter. Once the culture has been turned around though, Huff has been playing better. It’s most likely due to a contract year but sometimes guys take a little longer to develop. Plus, learning to play secondary in Oakland is probably one of the hardest things to transition into from college into the NFL. It will interesting to see what he really is.

I hope the Cowboys waste a lot of money on him.

man oh man, raider nation sure comes out to defend its own! i hated sapp as much as the next guy for two reasons. one he was not on my team and two he is and was a loud mouth but he brought it the majority of the time. huff is a talented lazy bum. sapp is totally correct in his observations of huff.

Sapp’s words make you wonder if Huff only grew up because free agency was around the corner.

Sapps words? They dont mean nothing, This guy hates the raiders so much cause he sucked. He is the reason the raiders had those bad years,

He is and always has been a blow-hard, if he was any kind of leader – or even had a set of #%$& on him – why didn’t he address the problems with huff when he was playing? instead of calling him out now like the true coward that he is.

That post pretty much hit it on the head, although I think Huff could still show some improvement. Sapp alway’s has something bad to say about the Raiders, whom paid him pretty well at the back end of his career. Which I just think show’s his propensity to be a loud mouthed jerk.

He underachieved in Oakland, sometimes taking plays off, even when he was used only as a situational player. Sure he was older, but his bite never did compare to his bark, or contract. Now without a bite, he just bark’s just to be heard.

Not a big fan of Sapp’s. Met him in NO bar before SB in 2001. Was w/a pimply faced 19 yr old trailer park girl [sorry wifey]..or was that DEB???? Took maybe first 10 words w/him to realize he’s right up there w/biggest jerks around.

But how the hell can you NOT be critical of anything involving Raiders??? They are a circus thats only missing the tent.

@bigtex…. I think the Bolts have a lot of interest in keeping Weddle. But he is drawing a lot of interest, apparently, from other teams (this Bolts fan is not sure why) and the Chargers may not be able to match the other offers, given the number of players on last year’s roster that aren’t signed.

I’m a diehard Raiders fan, but there may be some truth to what Sapp is saying. Few things make me more frustrated in sports than when an underachieving player miraculously has a great year when they’re up for free-agency.

I really hope it was just a case of Huff “growing up”, but either way, give me the Raiders like Zach Miller, Rock Cartwright, and Matt Shaughnessy who play hard every game, every season, no matter what they’re making.

I’ve got a problem with responders on this board referring to Michael Huff as just “Huff”.
I can think of a couple of examples that deserve the sobriquet before I give him the singular title of “Huff”.

1) Robert Lee “Sam” Huff. (Giants/ Redskins HOF LB, you might have heard of him).
2) “Huff it, pass it, don’t Bogart it!” (P.S. I, PERSONALLY, NEVER INHALED!).
3) …
4) …
5) …
6) Maybe someplace around here!
7) Or, perhaps not.

Of the FA Safetys available, Huff scares me the most. He’s two years removed from being considered a near bust, but will likely command a generous contract. Eric Weddle has two years less time in the league. He trails Huff by one INT. He averages more PD’s per season. In two seasons less time, he’s already ahead of Huff in tackles. Weddle could be restricted depending on the new CBA, although it appears as if the Chargers have little interest in retaining him.
