Pryor to hire Cam Newton’s pre-draft QB tutor

George Whitfield has become the go-to guy for getting embattled quarterbacks ready for the pre-draft process. Even if it’s the supplemental draft.

Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is on the verge of hiring Whitfield to help him get ready for the NFL.  Whitfield was Cam Newton’s pre-draft quarterback tutor, and also helped Ben Roethlisberger during his suspension last year.

“It is my understanding I am heading [to Miami],” Whitfield told the Canton Repository. “I look forward to working with him. From a kid that grew up in Ohio and knows how important the Buckeyes are and my relationship with coach Tressel and his relationship with coach Tressel . . .  on top of the fact he’s talented and a big competitor. It’s a challenge to me. I know Terrelle wants to be as good as he can be.”

Whitfield says his big priority is helping Pryor with his footwork in the pocket and throwing from the pocket.  It remains uncertain when exactly the supplemental draft will be.

So he’s going to “hire hire” Newton’s QB tutor? Given that Pryor is half the QB Newton is, I guess double-hiring the guy is the best approach.

Why is a TE hiring a QB tutor? OHHHH so he can understand how to run his routes better! I get it now….

LOL. That fat little toad Whitfield. Took the guy who had the best passer rating in college football the previous season and turned him into a total wreck who couldn’t complete 60% of his passes on an open field with no defense to worry about. In just two months. Newton was the only QB prospect whose workouts got progressively worse as time went on.

QB tutor = guy who will try take all the news off the fact you did something horribly wrong and now you are running from it, like your old coach and leaving your old school (you cant call it alma mater cause you dont have a degree) to take the hit for your stupid actions.

get drafted by the browns or vikings or something and fall deeeeeep down that depth chart….

whoa sorry browns and vikings fans, i kinda blacked out there for a moment in rage. i apoligize.

So with all the talk out there about how Pryor may be better suited to play a different position in the NFL, like TE or WR, etc., he hires a QB coach? I give him points for trying to be prepared, but isn’t that also kinda saying: “I’m GOING to play QB in the NFL, whether you think it’s my best option of not.”

He’ll do ok… in the UFL.

Never liked the kid. His whole life he has been aided by people around him that want him to succeed.
The problem with that is, along the way he learned to be a me, me, me person. He never was a ‘team’ player. Its always been about his success and doing whatever it took to advance his agenda.
This crap about possible playing in Canada was a joke. He would never go on that stage, it isn’t important enough. Just like he never intended on going to Michigan or several other schools but OSU was always his choice because of the stage they play on.

When I read stuff like this, it keeps diving home the reality of how much folks really hate Cam simply because he took a not so media favorite college team to their championship and how much those who are hating on him wish he had played for their school instead. :o)

Unfortunately years of mechanical flaws and bad habits can’t be undone in a number of weeks/months before the supplemental draft.
