George Whitfield has become the go-to guy for getting embattled quarterbacks ready for the pre-draft process. Even if it’s the supplemental draft.

Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is on the verge of hiring Whitfield to help him get ready for the NFL. Whitfield was Cam Newton’s pre-draft quarterback tutor, and also helped Ben Roethlisberger during his suspension last year.

“It is my understanding I am heading [to Miami],” Whitfield told the Canton Repository. “I look forward to working with him. From a kid that grew up in Ohio and knows how important the Buckeyes are and my relationship with coach Tressel and his relationship with coach Tressel . . . on top of the fact he’s talented and a big competitor. It’s a challenge to me. I know Terrelle wants to be as good as he can be.”

Whitfield says his big priority is helping Pryor with his footwork in the pocket and throwing from the pocket. It remains uncertain when exactly the supplemental draft will be.
