If you’re pulling that “third world status” bunk — you have lost all credibility. Ever been to a third world country? If you have and still make such silly statements, then you are blind or a lier. If you haven’t then you truly do not know what you’re talking about. Low taxes would be a good start, eh? Then move to Somalia where they have low low, maybe no taxes, all the “freedom” you want, and no infrastructure, public institutions, or services.
-------------

It's called "hyperbole"...as your hilarious example of Somalia, which is 80% freaken desert among many other factors, would be if you werent' serious in bringing it up. (Have you been to Somalia? If you haven't, then should I be calling you a "lier" as you put it?) And yes, lower taxes would be a good start, even if such meant of loss of some of the "public" (tax-dollar sucking) infrastructure, the teet of which apparently a nanny-stater like yourself can't do without. In fact, a flat income tax rate for all regardless of income would be an even better start. (Oh yes, the sheer horror!)

wic program allows underpriveleged people without a lot of money the chance to purchase FRESH food, grains, dairy, fruit, vegetables at the cost of the taxpayers and also necessary to listen to food nutrition programs and learn about healthy diets of very young children. sometimes this is the ONLY fresh food children get, unprocessed, fresh, & wholesome cause either their parents cannot afford it or do not know how to eat, store, or prepare it if not appropriately educated. Kids would be alot worse off without WIC i promise u, just like now with gov't shutdown, most kids that get daycare assistance are missing the only decent meal they get in summertime cause parents daycare assistance help has been cut off. You have a point about higher taxes and business, but there is a trade off. Texas has created TONS of business with their tax policy of very low taxes. The trade off is no middle class with a huge disparity among the rich and poor. On the top of that a future where Texas ranks among dead last in education. Where's the future there.

The land of "10,000 taxes" stocks them with fish and has state parks all over MN. Environmental policies cost money. How many States could call going "up north" a vacation. It takes money to make money. Minnesota has so much to offer. Why would you even have a summer home there if the cost of living is so high...

The big complaint in Wisconsin about public sector unions is how much more those folks make than workers in the private sector. Well — ding dong, wake up — those folks have a union to bargain for them…..There’s way more to life than “low taxes.”
——–

Seriously, are you from Greece? Oh wait, as far as Keynesian economics, Minnesota is the same thing….As far as those folks who have a union to bargain for them, those folks would not have a union (public union = taxpayer funded) were it not for the tax dollars funding it off the backs of the private sector workers and the many small business owners who provide them jobs. Talk about biting the hands that feeds you! This spoiled, self-entitlement attitude of the public sector is a major reason why economically and educationally (!) the US is plummeting to Third World Status. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you! Minnesota can’t have it both ways…even a pubwic school economics student realize you can’t have higher and higher tax rates and simultaneously sustain increased revenues for long, before businesses either close, cut their work force, or move out of state. You Minnysoehdah progressivist socialists just don’t get it, especially if you even are willing to appeal the failed lab experiment of progressivism called Wisconsin.

And while there is way more to life than “low taxes” as you say, it sure would be a good start. Ron Paul anyone?

Unlike the Twins stadium (that was payed for by the taxpayers), The Vikings stadium will only be used by the Vikings at best 12 times per year, while the rest of the events are non Viking related events. That create dollars to the state and the people that live here.
If the Vikings leave, we will $200 million in taxes and the tax base that the player generate from there salaries. Would the state help keep 3M here, with tax incentives and other benefits?

If "rich people" did invest, with all the Bush tax cuts for millionaires, we'd have jobs everywhere and no recession.

That whole line of talk is bull - plain and simple. Anyone who believes it is a fool.

Rich people stash that cash away while everyone else picks up their tax burden for them.

Evening going back to the tax rates we had under Reagan could go a long way to fix the problem.

And if social security withholding were taken from every dollar of pay, not just the first $100k or so, the whole social security funding issue would vanish.

It may be taken from every dollar of your "want fries with that" job, but for "rich folks," that tax disappears mighty fast when they skyrocket right past that $100k threshold.

At issue here in Minnesota (my summertime home) is a slightly goofy governor's proposal to foist an even higher tax on "the wealthy," tagging Gopher State sluggards with the second highest income tax rate in the nation. The rich. Who needs' em?

Besides the second highest tax brackets in the nation, Minnesota suffers from the third highest income tax on business income, too, at 9.5 percent at the top tier. High taxes are a legacy of the long-in-power Democrats' hostility to business in this bone-chilling state.

Well known in corporate circles, if not by local liberal news media, is the confluence of sky-high taxes (called the Land of 10,000 Taxes) is that highly respected home-bred, state-domiciled businesses, such as 3M, put down roots routinely in other states, as Boeing did in South Carolina, based on the high tide of taxes and regulations. Oh yes, and also on whether unions' swagger is less than in this dues-coercive, non-right-to-work state. Progressivism here, it's made terrific headway.
Obviously, as a Minnesota taxpayer and Viking fan nothing is more annoying than the fact that this deal would've been announced last Wed with Ziggy and Dayton having finally figured out the last parts of the bill and it was ready for a special session.

Also now is the fact that as a Minnesota taxpayer we have to wait if they can figure out how to squeeze $300 mil into a 36 Billion budget to opperate this state for another year. Figure it out and stop being such a joke.

You can't figure out how to make 36 Billion dollars work in this state? I Can. Cut Spending on useless projects and pointless welfare handouts of WIC and EBT to idiots that can clearly say 'would you like fries with that'.

Hopefully it happens for two reasons, one that we can break ground in Arden Hills. I personally won't have to move as I'll be done with this stupid state if they can't figure out $36 Billion with a B and a way to keep the Vikings. And of course Two: we'll no longer have to read after every stadium story...

'or they'll be looking to move closer to another team that used to play in minneapolis'
'or they might just play close to another team that also wears purple'
'if they don't quick, the Vikings could look elsewhere'
'if the powers that be in minnesota don't act soon, the team will be looking to where another former Minnesota team etc...'
'Magic Johnson's former team could be joined by another former minneapolis team'
'the team in minneapolis could soon join another team that used to call minneapolis home'
'can either be resolved in Minnesota or the team could resolve it's issue in Los Angeles'
'if this doesn't happen, Los Angeles will be waiting and ready'
'if key members don't act quickly, Ziggy could be forced to move or sell out entirely'

My God that is a dumb response. Because Minnesota doesnt need more taxes. It needs more tax payers. And, as I pointed out, it doesnt work. Just look at New Jersey. Rich people dont get paychecks. So, you cant tax them unless you seize their assets. But they do invest their money, that opens credit, that builds business, that make things, so people get hired. Its liberal class warfare and demagoguery. What are you going to do? Take Al Frankens vacation home and Benz from him?

Yes the state is shut down. Big deal. Not like this hasn't happened before. So I can't buy powerball tickets or go to some state park to let the bugs eat me alive.

The Wilfs have gone more than the extra mile to keep the team here. Two major forces are at play in this mess: one group demands the Vikes stay in downtown Minneapolis - obviously for loss of revenue concerns,
the other says lets put the stadium out of town where there is ample space and the Wilfs can get concession and parking revenue that they do not have now.

In Minnesota when you have two sides adamate on winning, nothing gets down. AKA state shutdown today.
