Are you kidding ??? If the players trust that Ambulance chaser after all the lies he has told them about the negotiations and after the wasted 3 Months after he had them walk out of negotiations where the owners were making compromise proposals right and left,with no response from Smith, and after he went to court for no reason and got hammered by the owners,then the players are more stupid than I thought most of them were (and that is pretty stupid,in general).
Get a fair deal done and then let Smith’s contract run out next year and then next time learn the lesson that you need someone who knows something about the NFL and who isn’t just a litigator who decides in advance he is not going to negotiate but is going to court no matter what.
Man do the players miss Gene Upshaw.If Gene was still with us the deal would have been DONE about 3 Months ago !

It’s funny. The analysts at nfl.com paint a completely different picture than this site does. According to Rich Eisen and others, the talks are on the brink of unraveling at any moment. Over here, it’s always “progress, progress, progress.”

If the owners stop changing the deal then maybe the deal will get done. With Jerry Jones involved, I’m skeptical that any deal will get done. All the NFL fans should reward the NFL whenever the first game is played by not attending any of the games. Empty stadiums across the country. A thank you from the fans.

Three days off is not enough, take 4 and have the owners and key players not return until Thursday. Seems like a good time to take a week off. There’s nothing important coming up. As I said before, if everyone wanted football we would have football.

I work for an airline at an airport near the Andrews Institute, and I have seen about 7 players from various teams come through over the last few days. This to me seems like an indication that a deal may be coming soon, and the players are coming to see Dr. Andrews before camps start. Could just be wishful thinking, but I have not seen this many players come through the airport in such a short time span before, so who knows?

This whole ” a deal is close” talk must be a drug.

Because you all have been saying “a deal is close” since March 3, 2011.

That’s 4 months of day by day, blow by blow coverage of ” a deal is close”.

De Smith has said on at least two occassions that a deal isn’t close. Yet you assume and continue to hope and report that “a deal is close”.

Why?

NFL games are played on Sundays and holidays. They should be negotiating this weekend just like they play the games.

As I’ve said before…they will settle on or about the 15th. If they had settled today nobody would have had a holiday weekend …AND free agency would have started. The owners and players are stringing it out according to THE PLAN.

They should even be working through the holiday weekend. As far as I am concerned, this holiday weekend is for the working folk. They’ve already had their 100+ day vacation. Not to mention their “work” consist of meeting for 3 days a week. We’ve waited long enough, it’s time to put the hammer down and power through this CBA.

I don’t have a problem with them taking a break for the holiday weekend. It’s a weekend to spend with families. These guys know what’s on the line. Look for a deal to be done late next week

Kessler (THE NFL/NBA KILLNG LAWYER) will most likely do his best to wipe out any progress that the owners and players have gotten done. It has happened before and you can bet it will happen again on Tuesday and Wednesday.
If I were the players I would be calling De Smith and tell him to put a muzzle on Kessler (THE NFL/NBA KILLNG LAWYER) for they are the clients and he should be doing what the clients want and not his own personal agenda.
Look out NBA he is going to do this to you.

Taking off the holiday weekend is one thing…..but if they don’t have a deal by the end of next week, there’s no excuse for not meeting through the weekend.
