Getty ImagesLast month, Tiki Barber’s media tour encountered a significant road bump, in the form of Mike Francesa’s radio show. After the argument regarding whether Tiki’s time at NBC was a failure subsided, agent Mark Lepselter said that two teams have shown significant interest.
In a new interview with Tom Pedulla of USA Today, Barber said that the Steelers and the Buccaneers are on his own short list. Though Barber didn’t bridge the gap between his own interests and the two teams who supposedly are seriously interested, it would be reasonable to conclude that the teams in which Tiki is interested are the teams that are interested in him.
We’ll find out not long after the lockout ends whether the Steelers or the Buccaneers or some other team is interested in Barber. Giants statement Pat Hanlon reiterated to Pedulla that the team plans to release Barber from the reserve/retired list once business can be done, making Barber a free agent.

Tiki Barber=Tool.
I bet that the list of teams that actually want him is shorter
Honestly i think Floyd the barber has more of a chance to be signed by the Steelers than Tiki does .
Good luck to Tiki I wish you will.
Steelers and Bucs both called Tiki and suggested he make his list shorter.
The real question is who’s short list is he on.
John Gruden thinks he can be a H.O.F. QB. He has great vision and an uncanny ability to see the field.
there is no way Tiki just walks on and plays anywhere close to the level he played at during his prime, which by the way, was good but not great.
@%^$#$! I’ve been drafting LeGarrette Blount like mad in fantasy football and Tiki is going to spoil his value!
Steelers and Bucs would both be good fits. Somebody convince me why the Steelers or Bucs wouldn’t want Tiki? Here are my reasons why:
Steelers: Mendenhall is a workhorse but this is a two back league now. Mewelde Moore? Isaac Redman? Dwyer? Want to overpay for my boy Ahmad Bradshaw or take a one-year 3 mil flyer on a potential solid role player?
TB: Repeat Steelers paragraph and substitute Blount for Mendenhall and Cadillac Williams for Mewelde. The Glazers love soccer and are cheap yadda yadda, Tiki’s twin is there. Duh.
Talent wins out, if Tiki works out for the teams and has something left– he will be signed.
And more breaking news! Tiki says the Raiders are on the short list
Did Kenny Britt repeatedly punch Tiki in the head too?
Me thinks he should consider UFL teams.
I’d hold his rights, make him go shop a a deal and get a pick, dont like it? Trek up to Albany and prove your worth at Camp Coughlin….Screw this dbag.
Delusional! That young stuff must have made him crazy!
Steelers ain’t happening. Guaranteed.
I’m a Tiki fan, but come on. A list? You’re not in a position to be choosy here, Tiki.
Bucs actually make sense. Not just because Ronde is there. If Cadillac leaves, who is their 3rd down back? Tiki could fill that void.
Apparently, he’d also like to play for New England and Green Bay.
What a surprise.
short list? that is his whole list.
Favre hands off to Tiki, Tiki fumbles, and a nation bursts into laughter. These are the losers that will be signed if the lockout doesn’t end. But hey, they’ll just be having fun out there.
He really thinks Pittsburgh wants him? The UFL doesn’t want him.
Ronde better watch his back or Tiki will kidnap him and assume his identity.
Tiki Barber is the casey anthony of football
Who care what teams are on his short list.
What’s more important is which teams have himon their list.
I have a short list of teams I’d like to play for too but that will never happen.
the Steelers and the Bucs response? -”O’RLY????”
Tiki and I have a lot in common in fullfilling our lists.
I’ve narrowed my list to winning the lottery and an Oylmpic gold in the 100 meters.
New rule. If you retire from football…it’s permanent. These comeback players are annoying
Sorry…Olympics…darn Jim Beam spell check screwed up.
But, is he on their shortlists?
If any team picks him up, it will be someone with an established veteran running back.
I am still in disbelief that he is attempting this. I guess his hope is that a team like the Steelers or Colts pick him up and then win a Super Bowl and he retires right after.
Tiki ! You aint on their short list..
Gee, this has the feel of the Jagr to either Detroit or Pittsburgh debacle….as a Pittsburgh fan, I say, please go away….we do not need your drama…..

Tiki is an unknown commodity at this point. Who knows if he if his veteran status will help him, or if his age will keep him from excelling. Either way the only known aspect to his game is that he is a locker room cancer. As a GIANTS fan, and a former Tiki fan I wish him all the Karma he deserves. I hope to see him leave the field on a stretcher in the first quarter of the first game, regardless of what team he plays for. Thanks for the memories, but after you left NY, your polished media image tarnished pretty quickly. Bashed your team, coaches and QB, turned on your preggo wife, failed at your media career, why does football want you back? Wait, it doesn’t.
i would be shocked… you’d have thought tampa would have learned its lesson after Derrick Ward. I doubt highly that he will end up on the bucs. if anything I say the bucs are of ‘token’ interest as a favor to Ronde, their interest in him makes Tiki’s value go up.
no way the steelers sign this guy.
I really want to know what team really would want Tiki Barber as there star RB or would he want to play as a Backup.
Did he draw up his short list wwhile riding the short bus?
Tiki to Redskins = LOCK
UFL!!!! Oh hell who are we kidding? Arena league!!!
What? Herschel Walker ain’t available?
If the Steelers really wanted to sign a washed up running back, I’m pretty sure they still have Jerome and Willie’s phone numbers.
Actually, I wouldn’t mind seeing the Bus back in the lineup, especially on the goal-line. Big Ben’s two-inch vertical leaps followed by fumbles just aren’t gettin’ it done.
Mr. “I cheated on my pregnant wife” wants to play football again?
Sorry Tiki, your image is toast. No Favreian comebacks or new TV jobs will save you.
Try being a better husband/father first and maybe someone will let you do a voice in an animated TV show or something.

Overpay for Bradshaw?? They guy is 25 and had a 1,000 yard year but you think a 36 y/o out of the league for 3 years would be a better fit. Don’t quit your day job buddy
Tiki is in for a rude awakening when he finds out how few teams have even a shred of interest in a RB of his age.
Tiki will be a servicable back for someone in the NFL next year. He could surprise a lot of people.
last one to touch their nose and say “Not It!” gets Tiki.

That comment is a cold, hard fact … yet it received overwhelming thumbs down. If you saw Tiki’s conditioning regimen in the HBO special, you know he’s probably got something left. The Giants are willing to release him. No matter how big an ass he’s been off-field, he always did his job on the field. And he’ll be willing to take less. He’ll probably end up on a roster. Initially I wouldn’t have thought it would be with the Steelers, but Moore is a FA and we could use another power back. If he has a good tryout, it wouldn’t shock me if we signed him for a year. If he did his job and kept his mouth shut, I wouldn’t care.
@northeastern: good but not great?
What have you been smoking and where can I get some????
4.7 per carry average.
over 1,500 yards from scrimmage his last three seasons.
Ended with a 5.1 per carry average his final season WITHOUT elite speed.
Tiki considers 32 a “short list.”
