Bucs promote Dennis Hickey to director of player personnel

The Bucs announced Wednesday that college scouting director Dennis Hickey has been promoted to director of player personnel.

The move puts Hickey in G.M. Mark Dominik’s old job, and could get Hickey noticed as a rising front office talent.

Hickey and Dominik have done a nice job re-shaping the Bucs roster on the fly with young talent since former G.M. Bruce Allen and coach Jon Gruden were shown the door.

“Dennis’ organizational ability and talent as a player evaluator have been vital to the Buccaneers for the past 15 seasons,” Dominik said in a statement.

Hickey will oversee college and pro scouting now.

The Bucs also announced that Mike Greenberg was promoted to coordinator of football administration and Tony Kinkela was promoted to college scout.  And I really can’t think of anything to add to that news, other than congrats to Mike and Tony, wherever you are.

Hickey hopes this ends the “Dennis the Menace” jibes arising from the goofy kid look that is sticking with him into middle age.

His first order of business will be to tell the players to look at Talib’s track record and do the complete opposite

I must say the Bucs are doing a good job coming back.

Hickey deserves it. He has been working his tail off for years. As for Greenberg, I kind of liked the guy that used to be there but I guess he will do.
