A) Not every team is bidding for him

B) According to Mike Lombardi he’s willing to take less to play for a legit contender

C) contracts will likely be less lucrative for the players post-lockout (so not likely to be “best paid defender in NFL history”)

D) to get the most out of the money spent, the team who signs him will have to play man D for the vast majority of the time. Sit him in zone and he’s essentially losing value; might as well sign Ike Taylor for less $. How many teams play man to that extent? Not many…
