There has been a lot of speculation about Albert Haynesworth possibly joining the Eagles and former line coach Jim Washburn in Philadelphia. The only problem? Haynesworth isn’t available yet.
The Redskins have held on to Haynesworth this long because they hope to get something in return. We think that will be a challenge to put it mildly, but very little about Washington’s handling of Haynesworth makes sense.
Tim McManus of PhillySportsDaily.com reports that the Redskins won’t cut him.
“They are not going to cut him,” one source told McManus. “If the Eagles or anyone else wants him it is going to have to be by trade. Because if they cut him, that’s giving him his way.”
The Redskins already cut their proverbial nose to spite their face by keeping Haynesworth throughout 2010. Continuing the drama doesn’t seem worth the trouble if the Redskins can’t deal him quickly.
