netherscourge says:Jul 8, 2011 3:44 PM

Why is Kolb so desired? No quarterback coached by Andy Reid has ever left the Eagles and won a Superbowl.

And Andy Reid didn’t become Brett Favre’s QB coach in Green Bay until the year AFTER they won the Superbowl. He was the O-line coach that year.

So tell me. Where are Koy Detmer, AJ Feeley, Doug Pederson, Mike McMahon, Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia at now?

How many Superbowls have they racked up since they left Philly?

KOLB BUYERS BEWARE!
==================================

Of those QBs you listed, only Feeley was thought to have a possible future. The rest were all past their prime and on the declining side of their careers.

Who the hell traded for Koy Detmer, Doug Pederson and Mike McMahon hoping they were going to lead them to the Super Bowl??

Buyer beware on Kolb because of his youth, not because Doug Pederson didn't win a SB after he got cut lol! Laughable...

Cards o line is simple to figure out, the discussion begins and ends with Levi Brown. Drafted in 07, played his first 3 years at his natural right tackle. Cards werent real concerned with running the ball. In 2010 they moved him to LT put a leader who played one year too many next to him in Faneca and Warner left so he struggled. With an effective guard next to him and a better QB behind him, this could be a make or break year for him. I think the Cards will sign at least one veteran lineman which could change the production of the entire unit.

As for Reid's record for QBs, I think that says more about Andy Reid, than any of the QBs he has worked with. If you remember the Cards traded up into the 2nd round of the 07 draft and took Alan Branch just ahead of the Eagles selecting Kolb. With the coversion to a 3-4 and Matt Leinart on the roster, Branch was perceived as a bigger need than QB. Much the same way tackle was perceived as a bigger need than running back and Brown was selected with Adrian Peterson available. Whiz has stated he regrets the decision to draft based on need ahead of talent. So, I would be interested in knowing what the Cards draft grade on Kolb was and did need trump talent again with the selection of Branch. If so, Kolb could be their target from a talent perspective, and not from a " oh, no, we need a QB, who do the talking heads say is the best choice" perspective.

Cardinals winning the west? Haha...Even if they got Kolb it doesn't matter. Kolb hasn't done anything in the NFL as of yet and all ha would have is Fitzgerald. Poor O-line, awful defense & questionable RB's. Did anyone else see the 49ers Cards Monday night game....the only game where singletarys awful offense actually worked. Every play a handoff right up the middle for at least six yards.

Whats with all you name droppers spouting Mcnabb's name? Ill give ya two reasons it's silly:

1. Wisenhut told Kurt Warner, who in turn told Dan Patrick last month that he has zero interest in Mcnabb.

2. Mcnabb is washed up and terrible now.

If you wanna drop a silly name drop one that would atleast be fun to watch like say, Daunte Culpepper. Atleast he still can chuck a pretty deep ball down field for Fitz to snatch from opposing defense. I know it's a million to 1 shot but it's fun to dream.

I'd take a fat gimped Culpepper launching bombs over a fat gimped Mcnabb launching worm balls any day of the week.

Why is Kolb so desired? No quarterback coached by Andy Reid has ever left the Eagles and won a Superbowl.

And Andy Reid didn't become Brett Favre's QB coach in Green Bay until the year AFTER they won the Superbowl. He was the O-line coach that year.

So tell me. Where are Koy Detmer, AJ Feeley, Doug Pederson, Mike McMahon, Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia at now?

How many Superbowls have they racked up since they left Philly?

While GORE in a contract year is intimidating, and the Niners should get the college coach bounce, (look for Seattle to slide), Alex Smith is still Alex Smith, Crabtree's foot still hurts, Ted Ginn still can't catch or run a route and the secondary is not good. 7-9 is reachable. The Rams should be able to improve to 8-8. Put Seattle down for 5-11. And the Cards with a significant upgrade at QB should be able to manage a 9-7. If they swing and miss a QB again, they'll be fightin the Hawks for the basement and the 1st overall pick.

They Cards need to win now and going forward, they don't plan on handing the keys to McNabb, Palmer or Orton for a year or 2. Kolb is the only QB the would be willing to negotiate to a long term deal. Skelton is similar in style to Flacco so it is not strange to think they will bring in Bulger. Plus Bulger knows the offense, McNabb does not and apparently won't wear plays on his wristband. If they don't get Kolb, they will have time to evaluate Bulger and Skelton and Hall. If someone emerges that can push Hall to the practice squad (fingers crossed) the Cards will be in position to make that move.

Kolb is the only QB the would be willing to negotiate to a long term deal. Skelton is similar in style to Flacco so it is not strange to think they will bring in Bulger. Plus Bulger knows the offense, McNabb does not and apparently won’t wear plays on his wristband. If they don’t get Kolb, they will have time to evaluate Bulger and Skelton and Hall. If someone emerges that can push Hall to the practice squad (fingers crossed) the Cards will be in position to make that move.

I'd gladly laugh you and your ridiculous offer out of the room. Then off you John Skelton and a kicking tee for Desean Jackson.

I like Kolb but why isn't anyone talking about Palmer, come on people. I'd like to see Palmer traded to Arizona, he could start for the next 5 years and play well. I'm a Philly fan but Kolb has only a handful of starts If it were my decision its clear that Palmer is the most elite qb prospect of free agency assuming he isn't forced into retirement. Just about everyone on the team has said he isn't coming back, lets just hope brown trades him.

I think the Cards will show their hand early but it will be a good one. I think they will sign a veteran offensive lineman (maybe Colon from Pittsburgh) and Marc Bulger. Then they cut Anderson. They have Skelton, Bulger, Hall and Bartell to throw balls in camp and then they can start negotiating with the Eagles and Kolb for an extension. The Cards will be in a position to tell the Eagles that DRC, Peterson, and Washington are off the table. Offer a 2nd and a conditional 3/4. If Seattle offers a 1, so be it, they overpaid. If the another team is willing to give the Eagles a player they want, well the Cards can't compete with that. I just think a 1st and two 3rds is alot to invest in Kevin Kolb and Charlie Whitehurst. Carson Palmer may be a better fit for them anyway.

The cards had invested in derek anderson and had max hall Plus i believe matt lienart was still on the roster at the time the mcnabb was available. Now that those experiments have failed and the cards are looking for a vet the mcnabb option seems much more viable. And it shouldn’t matter to the cards where mcnabb lives UNLESS they are selling mcnabb on why he should become a cardinal which is what this article was about.

Cards didn't want McNabb last year - Not sure why that would change this year. And where McNabb takes up residence doesn't matter in the slightest to the Cards.
